When we make healthcare investments at Norwest Venture Partners, we always think about the “three Ps”: patients, providers and payers. Ideally, companies improve outcomes and lower costs for all three. Over the last few years, we’ve seen how value-based care (VBC) can do that. There’s lots of momentum in this space: the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services has launched several specialty VBC programs, and many new VBC companies have emerged post-Covid. But there’s so much untapped potential left in VBC, especially in new approaches outside the Medicare primary care population.
