“The Stories That Unite Us” was the powerful theme of Dechert's fifth annual Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Week. This year, we explored the narratives that shape our collective experience and drive our commitment to DEI. The week featured an inspiring panel discussion that traced Dechert’s DEI journey from its beginnings to the present day. We were honored to hear from the founder of the Black Professionals Alliance, Vernon Francis; firm co-chair, David Forti; and Deputy DEI Chair and co-founder of the Global Women’s Initiative Abbi Cohen (pictured l-r in our Philadelphia office below); firm co-chair Mark Thierfelder; London Diversity and Inclusion Committee Chair Jason Butwick; and legal assistant and DEI advocate Chris Tunstall. Moderated by our Chief Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Officer Satra Sampson-Arokium, the panel reflected on the milestones, challenges, and progress we have made together. Throughout the week, we embraced "The Stories That Unite Us" by compiling a list of diverse children’s books and hosting screenings of the 2023 film Origin, written and directed by Ava DuVernay. This powerful film explores the interconnectedness of humanity through social justice and historical narratives, reinforcing the importance of understanding and sharing our diverse stories. For more information on Origin, visit IMDB here: https://lnkd.in/eDCYMSYc Together, we continue to build a more inclusive and united community, one story at a time. #DEI #Diversity #Inclusion

The European Court of Justice recently issued seven judgments in the landmark “Servier” case, confirming the anticompetitive nature of so-called “pay-for-delay” agreements between originator and generic companies. The case is however not fully resolved, as part of it was referred back to the General Court. In this OnPoint, Mélanie Thill-Tayara, Marion Provost and Penelope Agosta carefully analyze these judgments and highlight the lessons that can be drawn from them.
