Today we issued our Three-Year Recovery Plan. With defined strategic goals and specific objectives for the agency and its departments, the Recovery Plan is the roadmap for the transformation of DCHA. “The Three-Year Recovery Plan is the starting point in a measured and proactive strategy to restore the community’s trust in the DC Housing Authority, rebuild our relationship with our residents, voucher participants and landlords, and revitalize the affordable housing available to low-income District families,” Executive Director Keith Pettigrew said. To learn more about how the Recovery Plan was formed and to download a copy, visit https://lnkd.in/gS4sBTcA.

ICYMI: Financing for The Edmonson, the second new construction building in Phase I of the Barry Farm redevelopment project in SE DC, has closed. The Edmonson will include 139 affordable units, including 50 replacement units for former Barry Farm residents, 20,000-square-feet of ground floor retail space, shared community spaces and outdoor amenities. “This closing represents a critical step forward in delivering on our commitment to return former Barry Farm residents to their community, while honoring the site’s rich historical significance and investing in the neighborhood’s legacy,” said DCHA Executive Director Keith Pettigrew. Executive Director of the D.C. Housing Authority

One of the most rewarding parts of the job is connecting with DCHA families. DC Housing Authority held its first Rebuilding Our Communities Block Party last month at LeDroit Park. We had a cookout with burgers and hot dogs, Caribbean food, and an ice cream truck. And there was a live band and a DJ, bounce houses, a water slide, a video game station and tons of games and activities for kids, including my favorite - the foam pit. Thank you to our partners and the 30 service providers, as well as our Kelly Miller, LeDroit Park and Garfield Terrace families and our neighbors in the surrounding community for making our first Block Party a success! https://lnkd.in/ehAqqvdY

DCHA’s office is closed today in observance of Juneteenth. Officially recognized as a federal holiday in 2021, Juneteenth commemorates the fall of slavery in Texas – two years after President Lincoln signed the Emancipation Proclamation. Happy Juneteenth!
