June 19th holds significant historical milestones for the African American community in the United States: • On June 19, 1865, Union soldiers arrived in Galveston, Texas, and announced the end of the Civil War and the emancipation of all enslaved African Americans, marking the origin of Juneteenth.   • And on June 17, 2021, Juneteenth was officially recognized as a federal holiday, symbolizing the progress and ongoing journey towards equality and justice. The USDA Foreign Agricultural Service (FAS) hosted the “USA – Africa Showcase” at the National Restaurant Association Show 2024 in Chicago, IL from May 17-21. #DMG is proud to have supported the successful execution of the showcase, which brought together 70 delegates from 13 different African countries and offered the delegates the opportunity to discover exciting new products, create business connections with key suppliers, and make invaluable connections with U.S. companies. During the showcase, the delegates received first-hand education about business conditions in the U.S. through educational seminars, a site visit, and networking with participants.

This week, DMG helped orchestrate U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Office of Small and Disadvantaged Business Utilization (OSDBU) 2024 Small Business National Training Conference Hybrid Event, held in Atlanta, GA from April 2-3. With approximately 300 attendees, this two-day hybrid event served as a pivotal platform for fostering collaboration between small and socio-economic businesses and the HHS acquisition community. Discussions focused on enhancing acquisition strategies for small business utilization, and revitalizing the small business industrial base in manufacturing, knowledge-based services, and innovation. DMG successfully hosted the U.S. National Science Foundation (NSF)'s Research Infrastructure Workshop in Tucson from March 26-29! With over 250 distinguished virtual and in-person participants representing various NSF Research Infrastructure Projects, the workshop served as a pivotal platform for learning, networking, and collaboration. From engaging discussions to immersive tours of local NSF facilities, it exemplified the spirit of research #excellence and #partnership.

As we continue to celebrate #WomensHistoryMonth, we're honored to spotlight Patsy Takemoto Mink, the first woman of color and Asian-American elected to the U.S. House of Representatives. Mink's dedicated resilience and advocacy paved the way for Title IX, the landmark civil rights law supporting #genderequality in education.
