Congratulations to DWT attorney LaFonda Willis, Esq. on being selected to receive a Presidential appointment from American Bar Association President-Elect William Bay. As part of her appointment, LaFonda will serve as a Special Advisor to the ABA Commission on Women in the Profession for the 2024-2025 term. Each year, the ABA President-Elect makes approximately 700 appointments from thousands of highly qualified, diverse, and distinguished applicants, and this is LaFonda’s second Presidential appointment. LaFonda is an Associate in DWT’s Washington, D.C. office focusing on litigation, regulatory, and enforcement matters in the banking and securities industries. Congratulations, LaFonda!  

Congratulations to our client Amazon on announcing that they hit a key climate goal seven years early. They reported that all of the electricity used in their operations last year was matched with 100% renewable energy in 2023 due to their heavy reliance on wind and solar. DWT partner David Gossett has been appointed to the DC Circuit’s Advisory Committee on Procedures. Members of the committee serve three-year terms, during which they study the rules and internal operating procedures of the Court of Appeals and make recommendations for possible improvements. Congrats to our very own Amanda Levine, an attorney in our nationally renowned media and entertainment practice, on being named to the New York Law Journal's 2024 list of Rising Stars. The highly selective Rising Stars list recognizes the New York region's most promising lawyers 40 and under. Amanda represents and defends news and entertainment companies in a broad spectrum of media and First Amendment litigation and content-related matters, ranging from intellectual property, defamation, records and courtroom access, privacy, right-of-publicity, libel, copyright, and trademark issues. Well done!

That’s a wrap on this year’s South Asian Bar Association (SABA) of North America Conference! Our attorneys enjoyed an incredible event, where DWT’s own Thaila Sundaresan moderated the panel 'Unpacking SCOTUS 2024' and Stevin George moderated 'The Transformative and Ethical Implications of Artificial Intelligence.' During the conference, Thaila also accepted the Diversity & Inclusion Award on behalf of the firm. Thank you to Amit Aulakh, Gaurav Talwar, Nimra Azmi, Moiz Bharmal, Thaila Sundaresan, and Stevin George for representing DWT, to our clients who attended our client event at the Hockey Hall of Fame, and to everyone who made this such a wonderful event!

Congrats to DWT’s own Adam S. Sieff on being named a Law360 2024 Rising Star in Technology! Adam’s recent accomplishments helped secure this honor, including playing an important role in blocking the implementation of the California Age-Appropriate Design Code Act, stopping Montana’s TikTok ban, and challenging the Utah Social Media Regulation Act on behalf of social media users in Utah.
