Fascinating insights from the recent artificial intelligence (AI) in education session hosted by the European Commission in Brussels. Angela Jafarova, Datorium co-founder, and European Commission initiative DigiEduHack ambassador to Latvia, actively contributed to the event and shared valuable perspectives. ✨ 📚 The revolutionary impact of AI on education was highlighted by the participants, who noted both its advantages and disadvantages. AI technologies help students with a variety of requirements, including those who are disabled, by providing individualized learning experiences. But there are challenges, such as differences in digital skills and infrastructure access, which could exacerbate already-existing inequalities and give rise to new forms of exclusion. Furthermore, depending too much on AI may reduce social contacts, which are essential for holistic growth of individuals and societies. Despite these reservations, integrating AI into education has the potential to improve administrative and instructional strategies while giving more time for teachers to engage students in deeper learning. Our contribution is Datorium AI - a specialised platform for teachers generating learning materials with the help of an artificial intelligence. It is customizable to any national learning standard and makes teacher workflows simpler and encourages fair access to high-quality education. Last year, we successfully organized Latvian DigiEduHack hackathon, which was a massive success! The Latvian team was selected for the global final among teams from 40 countries. Our hackathon was distinguished by its impressive participation: 165 students in 43 teams from 19 schools across Latvia submitted their solutions for the digital education challenge. Why focus on students and not start-ups or teachers? Because we believe in empowering GenZ to lead educational innovation. It's essential to let them shape the future of education, identify gaps in their learning experiences, and propose solutions to these challenges. We spoke at IT Waffle Meetup in Jelgava sharing our experience in building innovative EdTech solutions with fellow Tech enthusiasts and professionals! ✨ To mention some, we heard the story of StartSchool, a modern Tech school in Latvia, issues with AI ethics delivered by Tietoevry. 🎤 We showcased our recent innovations and developments in education technology, such as our real-time student engagement system and learning analytics dashboard, which is deployed in 90 Latvian schools with 5000 students learning. We also shared recent developments in generative AI and our DatoriumAI platform, used already by 2 thousand teachers from 460 schools. 100 girls participated in our PyGirls 2024 hackathon, the finishing event of the PyGirls course, creating innovative apps and games about "Riga - The City of the Future". The event offered girls aged 14-20 an excellent opportunity to dive into the world of coding and development with Python. Out of 35 teams, 10 finalists presented their solutions to a panel of judges representing Datorium EdTech, Riga City Council, Riga TechGirls, Latvijas Mobilais Telefons SIA and The Latvian Information and Communications Technology Association - LIKTA. Congratulations to the winning teams:  🏆 Kerida - Best Future Potential: Created a tourist app offering essential information about Riga.  🏆 Capybaras - Best Game: Developed a game where players build and enhance their future city.  🏆 Golden Trio - Most Ingenious Solution: Designed an interactive quiz about Riga's architecture, history, and culture.  🏆 PyMaths - Best Team: Built the game "ExploRiga", guiding players through Riga's historical sites with puzzles.  🏆 Ingo - Most Innovative Idea: Created an educational platform for learning the Latvian language. Datorium shared experience in Tallinn DigiEduHack webinar, alongside with participants from Estonia, Romania, Greece and Italy. We are one of the active contributors to the European Commission initiated DigiEduHack (Digital Education Hackathon) event, which takes place all over the world. Training teachers on modern tech platforms and building a strong teacher community is important. This time Datorium team in Talsu 2. Vidusskola, together with more than 100 teachers learning about AI and practicing various AI tools to enhance teaching experience and productivity. 📚 Datorium team got very positive feedback, highlighting our innovative model in education, active student community and the impact of Datorium AI on teachers daily work productivity. Big thanks to all the participants and the Talsu 2. vidusskola team for hosting us! 🚀 We're thrilled to announce that Datorium has now successfully trained over a thousand teachers and school directors across Latvia. Together we are empowering teachers and transforming education through technology. 

We are training 200 women from Latvia and Estonia to become junior developers! WoTech program is a serious journey and is being realized in collaboration with the project leads Smartwork Academy and Riga TechGirls. 🤩 🎤 Last Friday we had the first meetup with Latvian participants hosted at Startup House / TechHub Riga! Similar meetup took place in Tallinn. It was a pleasure to be part of such a transformative and productive event. We gave inspiring talks, networked with participants, and of course brought surprise giveaways! We got a lot of positive feedback on the Datorium training methodology and quality, which supports our motivation to continue delivering excellence and great value for our customers and partners.
