San Diego – more than just biotech, also home to a thriving tech startup community. And yeah, the beaches are pretty great too.   After moving to San Diego from San Francisco’s East Bay, I learned that the city up north doesn’t have a monopoly on tech startups. I’ve met with founders, with biotech in-house counsel and with solo lawyers. I also attended several of the many startup events hosted by organizations like Startup San Diego (and SDx), including talks with AI startups and AI founders.   💡San Diego ranks as the 9th best startup ecosystem in the United States and 22nd globally.   💡Startups in San Diego County raised about $1.14 billion during 2023 Q3, according to data from PitchBook and the National Venture Capital Association – nearly a 10% year over year increase.   The tech industry in San Diego excels particularly in certain sectors:   🏥Healthtech - ranked 4th globally   📈Marketing & Sales   💻Software & Data   Thank you to Aaron Levy at Thirdsight, Scott Bulcao at Biosplice Therapeutics, Michael R. I’m excited to announce that I will be continuing a third quarter internship as a Data Science intern with Data Science Alliance where I will be continuing my machine learning projects in healthcare and community outreach. It has been so exciting to watch the organization grow so rapidly as an influential tech organization in San Diego.
