#ContinuousMethaneMonitoringDevices are gaining traction in the O&G industry due to stricter regulatory requirements, increased public and stakeholder demands, and the industry's commitment to reducing greenhouse gas emissions. There's a significant push for more transparent emissions data from global voluntary initiatives like OGMP 2.0 and regulations such as the EPA's new methane rules. Continuous methane monitoring solutions can be categorized into three types of #solutions: ⏩ #CameraBasedSystems, which commonly use OGI cameras to visualize methane plumes from a distance. ⏩ #LaserBasedSystems, that offer high sensitivity and can cover large areas. ⏩ #PointSensors, which require multiple devices to build a network and are often used for fence-line monitoring but can be closer to the sources in some cases. From sturdier pole hardware to community microgrids, the range of solutions to provide grid resilience continues to expand. So how can utilities make better decisions for when and where to deploy these solutions? Time-honored #GridPlanningTools, like capacity #ExpansionsModels and #PowerFlow analysis software, and traditional processes, like integrated resource planning and distribution system planning, have long ensured that the grid stays up and running, even under extreme scenarios.
