Back Bay Study UPDATE 🔔 When the U.S. Corp of Engineers first proposed a wall in Biscayne Bay for storm surge protection, the community voiced their concerns. We thank Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava for requesting the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to start over and design alternatives to the plan. Because of our concerted efforts, the project has evolved significantly since then — that is the impact of YOUR advocacy! You can comment on the project's progress TODAY during a virtual public meeting at 6 p.m. Let the Corps and County know that the community wants nature-based features like reefs and wetlands for protection, compound flooding analysis, and equitable outcomes integrated into the Back Bay Study. Find out more this evening by RSVP'ing NOW at https://buff.ly/48YT50n

We're thrilled to present the climate-resilient design of Jose Marti Park! With six WEDG associates on our team, every waterfront design project we undertake is guided by a careful balance of the WEDG values - resilience, access, and ecology. If you haven't registered for the live course to become a WEDG Associate, there's just over a week left to do so. Feel free to reach out if you have any questions!

Case Study: Jose Marti Park, Miami This #WEDGVerified project was the second outside of New York, bringing WEDG to the national design community with standards that resonate beyond state lines. In each pillar of WEDG (Resilience, Ecology, and Access), the design was tailored to meet the standard while considering the unique aspects of the project site. Learn more about this unique project from the lead landscape architect on the project, Robert Curtis of Curtis Rogers Design Studio, during our upcoming live, Zoom-guided version of the WEDG Professionals Course. 📅 Jan 24 and 25, 12-4pm EST. 🏙️ Earn 6 AIA LU credits, and 6 ASLA LA CES credits! 🔗 Register here: bit.ly/WEDG2024 P.S. The project team for Jose Marti Park also included Cummins Cederberg - Coastal & Marine Engineering, and Resource Environmental Solutions LLC as civil and stormwater engineers. The Van Alen Institute and the City of Miami also provided guidance and support throughout the design process!

  • This year’s ASLA Florida Conference really got us amped up! . After speaking about our work in three City of Miami projects, as well as our involvement with the ASLA Climate Action Plan, we are so grateful for the reception from others in our profession. We are very proud of our work we do, as we put a lot of time and effort into pushing for more just design practices that seriously contend with our changing climate. . This, of course, is a product of great collaboration and we want to thank our clients and allied professionals for joining us on this journey!
