Tim is an Executive Vice President at Brown & Brown Insurance and had this to say about joining the board: “Our son, Carter, was diagnosed with aplastic anemia in 2021. One of our first calls was to our friend, who immediately introduced us to another CURE board member whose child also battled aplastic anemia. Though not cancer, AA essentially behaves like one. CURE was there during the long and challenging bone marrow transplant journey. In late 2022, Carter developed lymphoma (PTLD) as a direct complication of the transplant. Once again, CURE was there for the countless meals during the lengthy inpatient stays, activities for our son, and even a box full of Christmas decorations for our hospital room. Now, on the other side, I feel compelled and fortunate to share our story and help others along the way during the most difficult times. Research and family assistance are essential and only possible with funding.”

Lawrence Alexander Homes hosted the groundbreaking of the Pinebrooke Build for CURE home on Wednesday. When completed, proceeds from the sale of the home will fund lifesaving research that will lead to better outcomes for children with cancer. Many suppliers and tradesmen who have generously donated supplies and labor attended. Two special guests, leukemia fighter Myles and his brother Bryce, took a turn with the shovel at the ceremony.
