🚨 New Rule Alert! 🚨 Check out our latest post where we break down MSHA’s new rule on occupational silica exposure. The new rule went into effect on June 17, 2024 - coal mine operators have 12 months to comply and metal/non-metal mine operators have 24 months. Key Changes: - Aligns with OSHA standards. - Simplifies PEL calculation and reduces exposure threshold. - Establishes an action level for respirable crystalline silica. - Uniform controls, exposure monitoring, medical surveillance, and respiratory protection updates. Impact on You: Mining and associated industrial companies must ensure employee exposure stays within new limits. Proper sampling and exposure calculations are crucial! How CTEH Can Help: - Expert planning and sampling by Certified Industrial Hygienists. - Baseline and ongoing exposure risk assessments. - Comprehensive health and safety services, including medical evaluations, industrial hygiene, toxicology, and fit testing. Our team is ready to help you achieve compliance and help protect your employees. Read more on our blog: https://hubs.ly/Q02HxLHs0 #MSHA #Silica #OccupationalSafety #IndustrialHygiene

Under GSA's new order, owners of leased government spaces must now conduct baseline drinking water testing. Once receiving a notice, you'll only have 90 days to hire a qualified professional to conduct sampling and provide results to the GSA. What do those impacted need to know for compliance, and how can CTEH’s decades of sampling experience, advanced credentials, and industry relationships help streamline the process? We’re explaining more on our blog: https://hubs.ly/Q02DVYRW0

Are you “ready” for a disaster? It seems straightforward enough, right? Not so fast. As I talk about disaster preparedness across the country and with colleagues from other nations we all agree the preparedness process is multifaceted. It begins at the individual level and should include the household plan, the community plan, the workplace plan, and beyond. In the work environment consider whether your staff can work remotely or communicate if cell towers are down or signal is out. Do you have pre-existing contracts or vetted vendors if an event happens? What about a list of available resources with or without a federal declaration? Resilience is about having a plan and resources to minimize disruption and impact. Proper planning is crucial to disaster resiliency. #CTEH #disasterpreparedness #resilience #disasterplanning

When asked how I prepare my own home for a disaster a few steps come to mind: -Securing important documents in a fire proof safe within a waterproof bag and having copies backed up electronically. - I pick up a case of water when shopping and keep enough cases in the house to support each of us and our dog for several days (one case per grocery trip is less than $5). - I keep a stock of non-perishable foods; pick up on extra can of beans or soup (less than $2). - I have back up lights/flashlights and a fan that can be charged via usb or solar. Those simple steps over time can help immensely. #preparedness #disaster #emergencymanagement #CTEH
