Grab your sunblock for the winter months ahead because Avelo Airlines is making waves. The affordable airline is expanding its current 20 routes beyond Tweed-New Haven Airport (HVN) to Bradley International Airport. From Bradley’s convenient confines, they’ll be flying direct to Cancun and Jamaica, expanding our travel options beyond US borders. More routes within Connecticut not only means more options for vacations, but also means more travelers coming into the state for work and play. This translates to a boost for the state economy with increased sales for local shops, restaurants, and attractions. Forget long layovers and complicated travel plans. These new nonstop routes from Bradley make reaching your favorite destinations a breeze! #Connecticut #MakeItHere #Airlines #Travel Connecticut Office of Tourism

About us
Dream, design, shape, repeat. That’s what we do in Connecticut. We invent. We build. Even if we’re just making happy lives. We’re makers. It’s why we came here, and why we’re here for good. We make everything from high-tech helicopters and jet engines to the nation's best pizza. We're hard at work on scientific breakthroughs in medicine and aerospace even as we speak. Even if you're not a maker in the traditional sense, think again, because you are. Teachers and homemakers are crucial to Connecticut because the most important "thing" we make is our people. They're our competitive advantage. That's why we invest billions in our schools, our communities, and their safety. Connecticut is one of the best places on the planet for building a family, a business, or living out a dream. So let’s keep dreaming, designing, shaping, and repeating up a storm until we come up with something incredible yet again. What will you make next? Connecticut. Make it here.

Connecticut Department of Economic and Community Development reposted this
Connecticut is a socially progressive, business-friendly state - and Germany is excited to partner. We are concluding our week with visits to Munich, Stuttgart, and Berlin with TeamCT. We visited companies that are investing more and more in Connecticut - and quite a few that are getting ready to! AdvanceCT is excited to help German companies enter the U.S. market with a social and economic culture that feels "genau wie zu Hause." Governor Ned Lamont, Economic Development Commissioner Daniel O'Keefe, Connecticut Innovations CEO Matthew McCooe, and Ted Fisher were simply the best team to make it all happen. Thank you to all of the leaders who welcomed us, and we look forward to being back with you soon. On to the Farnborough International Air Show! Our thanks to MTU Aero Engines North America MTU Aero Engines American Chamber of Commerce in Germany e.V. (AmCham Germany) Bayern Kapital ARBURG, Inc. Governor Ned Lamont recently kicked the Municipal Redevelopment Authority (MRDA) into high gear, holding the catalyst organization's inaugural meeting at the State Capitol and announcing members of its board of directors. MRDA's purpose is to spur housing development around the state with a focus on transit-oriented development. By adding housing to the state and making it attractive to residents because of easy access to public transportation, restaurants and retail, and fun things to do, the state is adding to its holistic approach to continue Connecticut's economic momentum of the last few years. The membership of the MRDA Board of Directors currently includes: Chairperson: Felix J Reyes – Director of Economic Development and Planning, City of New London (Appointed by Governor Lamont) Karen DuBois-Walton – President, Elm City Communities/Housing Authority of New Haven (Appointed by Governor Lamont) Alexandra Daum – Yale New Haven Affairs and University Properties, Yale University (Appointed by Governor Lamont) Sara Amato – Business owner and operator (Appointed by Senate President Pro Tempore Martin Looney) Jessica Vonashek – Chief of Economic and Community Development, City of Norwalk (Appointed by Senate Majority Leader Bob Duff) TBA (Appointed by Senate Minority Leader Stephen Harding) Kiley Gosselin – Executive Director, Housing Development Fund (Appointed by Speaker of the House Matt Ritter) Gary Anderson, AICP – Director of Planning and Economic Development, Town of Manchester (Appointed by House Majority Leader Jason Rojas) Laura Francis – Interim Executive Director, South Central Regional Council of Governments (Appointed by House Minority Leader Vincent Candelora) Commissioner of the Department of Housing or designee (ex-officio member) Commissioner of the Department of Economic and Community Development or designee (ex-officio member) Commissioner of the Department of Transportation or designee (ex-officio member) Commissioner of the Department of Labor or designee (ex-officio member) Commissioner of the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection or designee (ex-officio member) Commissioner of the Department of Public Health or designee (ex-officio member) Secretary of the Office of Policy and Management or designee (ex-officio member) #Connecticut #MakeItHere #Housing #EconomicDevelopment #TransitOrientedDevelopment

Did you hear the joke one oyster told the other oyster? Yes, I laughed so hard I pulled a mussel!
As residents and businesses in CT, we know our oysters are worth shellebrating…but now the nation is shucking amazed as well. Since launching the CT Oyster Trail and our short documentary, Rising Tide to Table, in May, the national media has started paying attention, including Forbes. Aquaculture is a key ingredient in Connecticut’s tourism and economic development landscape, and we’re determined to keep Connecticut’s burgeoning oyster and culinary scene at the top of your must-experience list

Germany is an important partner and home to many of Connecticut’s largest companies. This trip with Governor Ned Lamont, DECD Commissioner Daniel O'Keefe, AdvanceCT CEO John Bourdeaux and Connecticut Innovations CEO Matthew McCooe is a great opportunity to strengthen those relationships, explore new trade opportunities, and show our German business partners how they can #MakeItHere in #Connecticut.
I’m looking forward to meeting with German businesses partnering with Connecticut businesses on this trade mission. Our objective is to meet with executives that have expressed an interest in expanding their businesses in the US and let them know that Connecticut – with the best-educated and best-trained workforce in the United States – is the ideal location for companies to develop and produce cutting-edge products and services. The stability here — a growing economy, fiscal house in order, and a top notch quality of life — make our small and mighty state an ideal place to invest and make a business thrive. We will also be meeting with our existing corporate investors to discuss their continued growth in Connecticut. The competition for this type of foreign investment is intense, and having direct contact with employers is important to showing our commitment to their growth in our state. https://lnkd.in/eRyQK69F
