About us

Cristo Rey San José is a Jesuit, Catholic high school that empowers students from underserved communities in San José to be people for others who are prepared spiritually, academically, and professionally to complete college, and who will become accomplished leaders committed to a lifelong pursuit of learning, faith, and justice. What Makes Us Different: The Cristo Rey Work Study Program: Every Cristo Rey student works one day each week in professional, administrative roles at partner organizations. In turn, the revenue they generate funds up to 50% of their tuition! Students receive professional training at school and are prepared to contribute at their workplace on day one. Current partners include Cisco, CBRE, Kaiser Permanente, NVIDIA, Bristol Myers Squibb, Morrison Foerster, and 90 more. Cutting Edge Learning: Cristo Rey San Jose's academic model uses cutting-edge technology to adapt to individual student needs. Each student is given a Chromebook computer to aid instruction and use online portals for their classes. Who We Serve: We are a high school in Silicon Valley whose enrollment is limited to students from families with a unique commitment to serving students exclusively from underserved backgrounds, ensuring access to quality education. We are committed to students from our community to work, learn, lead, and succeed!

  • Our deep thanks to Intero Foundation for the generous grant of $15,000, which will help support all instructional materials for our students this school year. As part of the full wrap-around support to help ensure student success, CRSJ provides all the necessary school supplies and materials needed by each and every student. This includes all notebooks, journals, binders, all art supplies (such as drawing pencils and sketchbooks), project-based materials( such as posters and markers), and all lab equipment and supplies for science class experiments. In addition to all supplies, textbooks and other books including novels for English and literature classes are provided. This valuable support helps Cristo Rey San José close the achievement gap by providing transformative educational opportunities and work experiences for youth from under-resourced backgrounds to fully realize their educational and professional potential. By providing all school supplies, our school’s goal is to relieve any additional burdens and alleviate additional stress on parents, guardians, and families, many of whom are already struggling with higher cost of living and inflationary pressures in Silicon Valley. Thank you Intero Foundation for believing in our students and our mission! Intero Real Estate Services Kraig Constantino Ana Maria Russo Lynette Morehead-Crum

  • 📚 School is back in session! 🤩 Last week, the Cristo Rey San José Jesuit High School community welcomed students back onto campus with a first day of school assembly and Mass of the Holy Spirit. This year's school theme Ad Majorem Dei Gloriam (AMDG), which translates to "For the greater glory of God," reminds us of our mission to form leaders who are academically strong, spiritually grounded, and deeply committed to the Jesuit values of service and justice. We look forward to an amazing year ahead of rekindling faith and learning for all our students! #JesuitEducated #AMDG #ToAndThroughCollege

  • 🌟 Celebrating the Success of Our Alumni! 🌟 We are incredibly proud of Moises Vences, Cristo Rey San Jose Class of 2023 and current UC Merced student, for his outstanding achievements during his summer internship at BILL. Moises's journey with BILL is a testament to the incredible value our Corporate Work Study Program (CWSP) partners bring to our students, not just during their high school years, but well into their college and early-career paths. At Cristo Rey, we are committed to ensuring that our alumni continue to grow and thrive in their professional journeys. We are immensely grateful to BILL for not only providing Moises with this opportunity but also for their ongoing support of our CWSP and our alumni. Our alumni deeply value the relationships they form with CWSP partners during their high school years, and many, like Moises, actively seek out opportunities with these companies as they move forward in their careers. To our valued partners: if you have any college internship or early-in-career opportunities, we would love to collaborate with you! Reach out to Cristo Rey SJ's Alumni Career Services at [email protected], and we will share your opportunities with our talented alumni network. As my summer journey with BILL comes to a close, I reflect on the incredible experience I've had over the past 8 weeks. Working with BILL has been insightful, fun, and rewarding. I'm grateful for the support and guidance I've received from everyone in the company. During my time at BILL, I learned a new coding language, explored new sources for website analytics and debugging, and collaborated with amazing engineers and individuals. These opportunities not only expanded my skills but also provided valuable insights into SWE and InfoSec. I've enjoyed the collaborative environment and the chance to work with amazing individuals daily. As I transition back to school, I look forward to applying what I've learned and continuing to grow in software engineering and explore new opportunities in InfoSec. I would like to give a special shoutout to Nora Whiting-Hartford, Savannah Vrbas, Molly Gregware, Kyle Berry, He Y., Sridhar M, Gourav Nagar, and the entire team at BILL for making this summer truly memorable!

  • As our school prepares for the 2024-25 school year, we welcomed new teachers and staff yesterday. They learned about the Cristo Rey Network, our Jesuit guiding principles, and all the different teams on campus. In addition, this cohort learned about the history of the Five Wounds Church and the San José Portuguese community from Emeritus Board member Davide Vieira, and rode our Work Study vans to visit East Side non-profit agency Amigos de Guadalupe Center for Justice & Empowerment. CRSJ Class of 2018 alum Jessica Lopez made us all proud as she described her passion for giving back to the East Side community after her graduation from USF. We know these mission-driven educators and staff will make such a difference in our students’ lives. Go Lions! #TheSchoolThatWorks #ToAndThroughCollege

Our Partners showcased their organizations by engaging in speed-networking sessions with the students, sharing insights into the kinds of work their student workers will be involved in. The energy was palpable, and it was inspiring to see our students connect with professionals and start building the foundations of their careers.
