Last week, Nicole Mattson, LHSE, CAE, MA and Charlie Peterson met up with Representative Liz Reyer and Speaker of the House Melissa Hortman. They got the chance to hear about DFL priorities for the coming session and discuss the importance of investment from the legislature in long-term care. Engaging with legislators is important to building lasting relationships that can shine light on good intentions when intentions aren't always obvious. #CPMAdvocates #CareComesFirst #MNLeg
Thanks to incoming AHCA/NCAL President and CEO Clifton J. Porter II, for attending the Care Providers of Minnesota Board of Trustees meeting today. We appreciate his willingness to engage and are grateful for the leadership AHCA/NCAL exhibits on a national level! #AHCA #NCAL #CPMAdvocates
This week, Nicole Mattson, LHSE, CAE, MA met up with Fartun Ahmed LADC, LALD, RN and Nasir to host Representative Patty Acomb at Stonecrest Living/Landings of Minnetonka for a tour and discussion. The discussion revolved around evolving and improving licensure to expand access to care for more of those in need. This is a great location that does fantastic work. Thank you to Nasir and Justin for the hard work and advocacy you do for your unique AL population. #CPMAdvocates #AssistedLiving #LongTermCare
Last month, some of our members attended a town hall hosted by Representative Mohamud Noor, who currently chairs the House Human Services Finance Committee. Tami Abla, with Peaceful Living, LLC, spoke at the Human Services Town Hall about struggles facing assisted living providers. Nasir Gabeyre, with Stonecrest Living, not only spoke at the Town Hall, but stayed after to connect personally with Senator John Hoffman and Jodi Harpstead, Commissioner of Human Services. Engaging with these decision makers in government ensures that long-term care providers are not forgotten and instead are invested in as a core Minnesotan value. Thank you to our members for their advocacy. #CPMAdvocates #MNLeg #CareComesFirst

Our President and CEO, Toby Pearson, got the chance to meet up with long time advocate for long-term care at the MN Legislature, Representative Joe Schomacker (21A), at a golfing fundraiser this week. Representative Schomacker has always been willing to engage and learn about the issues affecting long-term care providers, and it is always great to connect with him. With election day coming up, and every seat of the MN House of Representatives up for election, make sure to research the long-term care positions of the candidates on your ballot and make your voice heard through voting. #CPMAdvocates #CareComesFirst #MNLeg
The Care Providers team met up with the Ecumen Seasons at Apple Valley team for a tour of their location and discussion on long-term care with Senator Erin Maye Quade (SD 56) last week. The discussion included problem solving for issues regarding reimbursement, background checks, workforce development and regulation for long-term care providers. Senator Maye Quade sits on the Senate Human Services Committee and has been a great partner in developing solutions to issues long-term care providers face. Engaging with her is impactful and relationship building with Senators will be important during the coming legislative session with such a small margin separating the majority from minority party. #CPMAdvocates #CareComesFirst #MNLeg
Our Vice President of Strategic Initiatives, Nicole Mattson, LHSE, CAE, MA, visiting with Representative Samantha Sencer-Mura (63A) last week to connect before the coming legislative session. Representative Sencer-Mura has been an advocate for workforce development and continuing to engage with legislators like her helps to forge a connection that allows us to develop solutions together. #CPMAdvocates #WorkforceDevelopment #MNLeg
Our Senior Director of Advocacy, Angela Garin, met with MN House candidate Julie Greene (District 50A) this week to discuss long-term care and the ways in which the legislature can be involved in ensuring access for consumers as demand increases with an aging population. Engaging with legislators is an impactful way to improve long-term care in Minnesota. Showing your legislator that you can be a resource for them to go to with questions on how legislation will impact long-term care providers in your community can lead to a meaningful relationship. Those relationships help to make sure long-term care doesn't fall to the bottom of the priority list and unintended consequences from hasty legislating are avoided. #CPMAdvocates #CareComesFirst #MNLeg
