Elections are a vital part of our democratic system, and it is part of the Core Knowledge mission to prepare students to participate in that system. We do that through the Pathway to Citizenship, a thread that runs through the Core Knowledge History & Geography (CKHG) units in Grades 3-6, the Civics in Action found in the middle school U.S. History volumes, and CKHG supplemental civics units for K - Grade 8. https://lnkd.in/eeyg77sJ

Grayhawk Elementary is a Core Knowledge School of Distinction in Scottsdale, Arizona. They have around 25 teachers working with 600 pre-kindergarten through grade 6 students. Grayhawk has been utilizing Core Knowledge resources since 1998. The principal and Core Knowledge Coordinator at Grayhawk are committed to the Core Knowledge Approach to knowledge-based schooling. They work together with the staff to provide an outstanding learning environment and to meet students’ needs. Despite new state standards in Arizona, Grayhawk’s curriculum plan and implementation of the Core Knowledge Sequence follow a logical, coherent progression. Their leadership team participated in training and individually pored over the new standards to identify opportunities where Core Knowledge content and the state standards align.
