Established in 1955, public relations pioneer Everett "Ev" Clay was a founding member of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) Miami chapter. In 1985, PRSA Miami Chapter established an endowed scholarship fund in Ev Clay's memory to provide assistance to promising South Florida public relations students who demonstrate academic performance, aptitude and financial need. The Coral Gables Community Foundation is honored to administer the Ev Clay Endowed Scholarship. The Deadline to apply for the 2024 Ev Clay Scholarship is July 31st. The Coral Gables Community Foundation is collaborating with the University of Miami's Community and Educational Well-Being Research Center to conduct a needs assessment with the Coral Gables community. As part of this effort, researchers at the University of Miami would like to hear directly from YOU, our community members, to gain your perspectives on the greatest needs in our community. The Coral Gables Community Foundation provides Community Grants to vital non-profit organizations that make Coral Gables the City Beautiful and for the benefit of those who live, work, learn and play in Coral Gables.    Additionally, major grants from The Corral & Cathers Fund and The TriStarr Adult Education Fund, two funds managed by the Community Foundation, are supporting working artists and adult education, creating a 2024 awards total of $230,000.

The Community Foundation would like to congratulate the Books & Books Literary Foundation on a phenomenal first year of inspiring community, one story at a time.  The Books & Books Literary Foundation works with schools and community partners to provide access to books and the authors behind them to students for whom a home library is out of reach. In addition to the many events they have sponsored and books they have donated, we congratulate the Books & Books Literary Foundation on being awarded the Toni Morrison Award for Courage at the June 8th National Teach Truth day of action event! The Coral Gables Community Foundation is honored to be the fiscal sponsor for the Books & Books Literary Foundation.

The Coral Gables Community Foundation has engaged the @University of Miami’s Community and Educational Well-Being Research Center to conduct a Needs Assessment with the Coral Gables community. As part of this work, researchers at the University of Miami will host several focus groups this summer to hear directly from YOU, our community members, to gain your perspectives on the greatest needs in our community. These informal group discussions will take place in July, both live and via zoom, and last approximately 75 minutes. Each participant will receive a $50 gift card for their participation. We would like to invite you to be part of this important effort. If you have young people in your lives (ages 14-17) who would like to participate, please fill out the linked form with their information and we’ll add them to the list for consideration. The non-profit organizations included in our 2024 Look Book have been approved for a grant by the Coral Gables Community Foundation’s Community Giving Program. We are able to grant at least the minimum requested amount for most requests, but many applicants need more to effectuate the program described.
