Aerospace components for severe-duty applications need to be light weight, exceptionally strong, and able to withstand the high temperature and thermal expansion found at hypersonic speeds. Our components and subcomponents are designed to withstand extreme environmental conditions while retaining their strength, form, and size. You can learn more about the variety of aerospace applications where ceramics are superior to other materials like metals and polymers at https://bit.ly/3lYdBMu. #Aerospace #Innovation #TechnicalCeramics

What a blast we had at the hydration dunk tank in Oak Ridge, TN! Our awesome Safety Team came up with this cool idea to beat the summer heat and have some fun. Everyone from day shift to night shift enjoyed the Kono Ice truck and the chance to dunk our managers and EHS specialists. Plus, we raised money and supplies for back to school. Thank you to all who organized, participated, and donated. Way to go, team, you make a splash in our CoorsTek family! #BeatTheHeat #BetterTogether

What do you get when you combine a high-voltage application with the need for thermal shock resistance? This may sound like the beginning of the world’s worst dad joke, but it's actually a common challenge when designing medical equipment. Fortunately, this challenge can be overcome through the power of technical ceramics. Materials such as alumina offer extraordinary thermal properties, and protective coatings can be applied to alumina components to avoid the effects of electrostatic discharge in high voltage situations. CoorsTek ArcResist™ protective coating makes it possible to retain the intrinsic insulating and mechanical properties of high-purity alumina compositions while offering tailorable dissipative or conductive properties. Welcome back to Material Monday, where we spotlight different technical ceramic material formulations each month. This month, we're featuring some of our specialty materials: transparent and translucent ceramics. CoorsTek translucent and transparent ceramics excel in high-stress environments, outperforming traditional glass with their superior thermal resistance, strength, and hardness. These materials offer exceptional clarity and stability, and through meticulous compositional and process control, CoorsTek can add optical functionality such as wavelength conversion. Some examples of applications that can benefit from translucent and transparent ceramics include High-Intensity Discharge (HID) lighting and LiDAR. Interested in learning more? Production Pulse: STEM Manufacturing Education for Younger Students Manufacturers have known for more than 20 years that they needed more engineers and science/engineering/math-oriented students to work in their shops. So, many are now starting younger, as early as middle school to expose young people to future manufacturing careers. Hear from: Megan Barrett, Director of Operations at Engineering Tomorrow Michael Gretczko, Deloitte’s Chief Business Architect David Hook, R&D Engineer at CoorsTek, Inc. and IndustryWeek's Anna Smith #manufacturing #stem #education #training #workforce
