    Over the last month, Contra teamed up with Dann Petty to survey over 500,000 independent creators to learn about the tools they use to run their businesses. Excited to share the winners and launch the "Creator Tools Show", where we discuss the jobs of the future with the people inventing them and interview the creators behind the tools we all use every day. There were some obvious winners like: 1. Figma, 2. Canva, 3. Adobe, 4. Framer 5. Webflow but also a bunch of new and up and coming tools like 1. Spline 2. FlutterFlow 3.     At the end of last year, Michael Janiak and the award winning agency, Pattern came to Contra with an outdated spreadsheet of their creative network. Now Pattern uses Contra to turn their spreadsheet into a powerful, living network that they use everyday to curate, source, hire and pay their creative talent. I’ve seen this be a massive unlock for creative teams, including ours at Contra.

    I really believe Contra is shaping up to be the future of freelancing. They've got an amazing pool of top-tier experts, vetted across every software platform you can imagine. And get this, brands like Apple Google and Microsoft will be tapping into this talent in 2025 (my thoughts).     One of my core beliefs is that transparency and upfrontness are necessary for efficiency. This is visible in everything I do and how we build Contra. Too many platforms play a cat-and-mouse game when it comes to their algorithms. You are left guessing which actions are rewarded or punished. We are changing this. Contra's discovery algorithm is going to be completely open-source. You will know exactly every attribute that helps you to rank higher (get seen by more clients). You will also know things that compromise your visibility (like not acknowledging inquiries). For the past year, we've been experimenting with different parameters. One of the biggest challenges is figuring out a set of rules that aligns incentives of every participant of the platform (clients, freelancers, and the platform itself). We are close, and we are already designing the UI for making all of this information visible to you. This gives everyone on the platform the tools necessary to succeed, and if we do it right, will make Contra the most efficient talent marketplace in existence. A little sneak-peak of the UI.
