Cybercriminals can take advantage of attributes such as names, email addresses, financial information, or transaction history using AI technologies to enhance their malicious activities. At Constella, we’ve identified a significant rise in the use of these techniques, leading to more sophisticated, credible, and effective attacks. These AI-driven scams leverage detailed personal profiles to craft convincing narratives, making them harder to detect and more likely to succeed. Rachel Hamasaki Jason Wagner Alberto C. Constella launches ScamGPT: Combatting Hyper-Targeted AI Scams using Generative AI There is an urgent need to develop robust human defenses capable of detecting and mitigating AI-driven scams effectively to combat these evolving threats. AI can mass-produce hyper-personalized scams that include personal information and are crafted with a level of sophistication that makes them indistinguishable from genuine communications. Educational initiatives must highlight the potential consequences of compromised information and the new ways criminals can exploit it to orchestrate seamless scam narratives. Constella’s all-new ScamGPT solution generates AI scams like fraudsters do to educate and build human defenses so users are trained to detect real scam attacks when they come in the future. In recent weeks, South Korea has experienced a data breach surge that has heightened concerns among cybersecurity experts. Notably, this increase in cyber incidents aligns with South Korea’s prominent role in a significant cybersecurity debate at the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) in June. This situation underscores the intricate link between geopolitical events and cyberattacks, where major decisions or announcements can often trigger data breaches. According to Nasdaq’s 2024 Global Financial Crime Report, losses from fraud and bank schemes reached a staggering $485.6 billion globally last year alone. Integration of deep OSINT into cybersecurity frameworks provides financial institutions a major strategic advantage. It enhances risk management, fortifies customer asset protection, and ensures regulatory compliance—critical amidst evolving cyber threats. Unlike traditional OSINT, deep OSINT extends its reach to the deep and dark web, uncovering vast amounts of critical information—up to 1 trillion identity assets—that could otherwise remain hidden. Learn more about the benefits of leveraging deep OSINT to prevent fraud in financial institutions: https://lnkd.in/eR_fTWxZ #deeposint #constella #financialinstitutions #fraudprevention

In a realm where anonymity often prevails, it's exciting to see Constella Intelligence's deep OSINT investigation tool helping to unravel a new breed of cyber player. Don't miss this intriguing investigative report just published by Brian Krebs, delving into the case of "x999xx," a notable Russian hacker who boldly reveals their real identity, even while facilitating access for ransomware groups. Check out the full story to explore this intersection of identity and cybersecurity. #Cybersecurity #InvestigativeJournalism #DigitalIdentity #Ransomware
Normally when I confront a notorious hacker with connections to their real-life identity, I get fed a bunch of unlikely explanations for why those connections are there ("I was hacked" or "someone stole my account"). But this big-time access broker I profiled in today's story flat out admitted who he was. How refreshing. From the piece: "Most accomplished cybercriminals go out of their way to separate their real names from their hacker handles. But among certain old-school Russian hackers it is not uncommon to find major players who have done little to prevent people from figuring out who they are in real life. A case study in this phenomenon is "x999xx," the nickname chosen by a venerated Russian hacker who specializes in providing the initial network access to various ransomware groups." https://lnkd.in/eGMYeTAu

We have noticed an alarming increase in major data breaches, with millions of records being exposed and shared on dark web forums. This resurgence has largely been driven by the spread of infostealers – malicious software designed to gradually and unobtrusively steal sensitive information from infected devices without the victim’s awareness. This wave of cyberattacks, along with the resurgence of the names of these former hacking groups/users, raises the question of whether we are entering another “golden age” of mass leaks, similar to what we experienced a few years ago. Rachel Hamasaki Jason Wagner Alberto C. To learn more, check out this analysis of how infostealers operate. It reveals that their modus operandi typically involves certain threat actors developing these tools as a service: https://lnkd.in/eKbQSEa3 #infostealers #databreaches #constella
