Congratulations to former Columbus Metropolitan Library VolunTeen Stephanie Finoti for being crowned Miss Ohio! 👑 Stephanie volunteered at the Whitehall Branch, and credits the library as a monumental impact on her life: “My parents, they’re immigrants, so they didn’t know how to speak English very well when I was younger… [The library] taught me how to write, and from there it developed on to teaching others how to read and write. [It’s] where I first learned a servant’s heart… They have done so much for me.” Stephanie will advance to the Miss America Scholarship Pageant later this year. Her community service initiative, That STEM Girl, works to empower and prepare marginalized young women to enter the STEM field. She studies biomedical science at the University of Cincinnati, with plans to enter the medical field as a neonatologist. #MissAmerica #MissOhio #ThatSTEMGirl 📸 Photo via Miss Ohio 📰 Quote via Richland Source

A job well done in our book 👍 Ron, a maintenance technician, laid out his tools at the Martin Luther King branch. A curious teen approached, and before long, it was a two-person project. Our future engineer was off to the races, fixing the elevator in no time! We're always learning something new at the library! #STEM #RoleModels #Library

“I am intelligent and have good work experience, but my English is not great. So I don't always understand everything I have to do. But you all have my back. You are my crew!" Christopher, a Hilltop Branch regular, was injured at work. He came to the Spanish-speaking staff in our Community Support Center to file workers comp, and over the course of multiple appointments, Christopher updated his resume, created an Indeed profile, submitted applications, and landed some interviews. Recently, Christopher dropped by with good news: he’s been offered a position! He shared that working with the library has made a huge difference as he navigates this experience. ¡Felicidades, Christopher! 🎉 #Library #ESL #JobInterviews

😮 IMPRESSIVE: These four-year-olds created their own cardboard tower after seeing OSU architecture students install theirs! The original display was introduced in April, when sophomore architecture students at the Knowlton School at The Ohio State University constructed inspired reading nooks from recycled materials. The preschoolers' tower, displayed at the Karl Road Branch, shares their opinions on the piece, like “I think it’s as tall as a skyscraper” and “I thought it was going to be easy. And it was.” #Creativity #CreativeKids #Architecture
