Luxury retreats in extraordinary destinations. As a B Corporation, we travel for the Collective Good.

About us

Collective Retreats is an experiential travel company redefining the accommodations experience for travelers through a collection of unique luxury retreats in unexpected places. Collective Retreats was built with an asset-light business model, meaning that each destination was created with minimal materials, removing the permanence of brick and mortar. A veteran of the hotel industry, CEO Peter Mack correctly identified that the majority of hotel revenue is spent on property expenses and upkeep, and not toward furthering the guest experience. Many of these costs were tied to the physical hotel building and in order to reallocate these funds for unique guest experiences and hospitality, Peter decided to turn the hotel business model upside down. Whereas many hotels and resorts pride themselves on the grandeur and stateliness of their buildings, Collective Retreats aims to create as little barrier as possible between one’s surroundings and one’s accommodation. Without sacrificing luxury hospitality, the destination retreat manages to refresh its image every year while providing the comfort of a five-star hotel to its guests.

Today at Collective Retreats we are unveiling our Collective Good Social Impact Report for 2023, and marking one year as a B Corp™. Our company has worked very hard to become a leader in nature-based hospitality, and even harder to ensure we're always doing the right thing. Through our Collective Good initiatives, we’re delivering on the commitments we made to prioritize people, the planet, and purpose in all aspects of our business from our team to our retreats to our communities. There is still work to be done to drive impact as we continue to grow our business into the future, but we’re very proud of the progress our company has made. Please read the report, share with others and share your feedback with us. Thank you all for your support and partnership in shaping the future of nature-based hospitality. https://lnkd.in/eqrzb2-m

The evening campfire brings guests together for moments of connection, and sharing the best way to make s’mores.

For some it’s quick into the flame for that burnt marshmallow exterior, and for others it’s the patient slow roast to get the perfect golden brown. And for others it’s the skill it takes to eat a s’more without getting hands sticky covered in marshmallow and chocolate. But isn’t that the fun of it? What’s your trick for making the best s’mores? Share your techniques in the comments below! #collectivevail

At Collective Retreats & The Conservatory Collective, every day is Earth Day.  Being recognized as the first and largest global outdoor hospitality brand to achieve certified B-Corp status by B Lab is an honor we deeply value, and we commit to sustainability and environmental stewardship with every visit. From our inception, we've strived to make a positive impact in the communities we serve, understanding the environmental problems posed by traditional hotels. Our mission is to offer travel experiences that are not only luxurious but also respectful of our planet. Luxury shouldn't be extractive. Through partnerships like our collaboration with Arbor Day Foundation, where we plant a tree for every stay booked at a Collective Retreats location, we contribute to combating deforestation and climate change. On this Earth Day and every day, we invite you to join us in our journey of responsible travel, nurturing our planet, and fostering meaningful connections with nature and communities.

I'll bet you've heard a lot over the past couple of years about nature-based hospitality, but what's the real opportunity here? I met today's guest at a recent Independent Lodging Congress event, and his session was standing-room only. The audience was not only fascinated by the topic but loved what he had to share. Peter Mack is the founder and CEO of  Collective Retreats and its new sister brand, The Conservatory Collective. And he had so much to share at this event that I knew I had to bring him on here to teach us all. Listen to Peter now on the Hospitality Daily Podcast: https://lnkd.in/dGP42nF6 A few takeaways from our conversation: 1) Embrace Nature-Based Hospitality: Recognize the growing trend and opportunity in connecting guests with nature. Consider how your property can integrate natural elements or experiences to meet this demand. 2) Innovate with Experience Design: Draw inspiration from unique experiences like Tough Mudder to create memorable and emotionally engaging guest experiences. Think beyond traditional hospitality offerings to include elements of adventure, wellness, and local culture. 3) Prioritize Food and Beverage: Use your culinary program to connect guests with the local environment and culture. Offer a range of dining experiences from simple, locally sourced meals to elaborate chef-led foraging and cooking experiences. 4) Develop Unique Properties: When developing new properties or renovating existing ones, focus on creating spaces that blend with the environment rather than dominating it. Consider the impact of your development on the local ecosystem and community. 5) Hire Passionate People: Look for individuals who are "lightning rods" or catalysts within the community. These team members should be service-oriented, empathetic, and capable of creating deep connections with guests. 6) Be Purpose-Driven: If it aligns with your values, explore becoming a B Corp or adopting similar standards that prioritize social and environmental responsibility alongside profitability. 7) Stay Adaptable and Forward-Thinking: The hospitality industry is evolving, and there's a shift towards more personalized, nature-connected, and sustainable experiences. Stay informed and be willing to adapt your business model to these changes. 🎧 Listen to Peter now on the Hospitality Daily Podcast (Apple Podcasts or Spotify) 👉 Let me know in the comments: What resonated here with you? -- If you enjoyed this... > Share this with your network > Follow Hospitality Daily here on LinkedIn so you don't miss more stories like this Thanks! - Josiah
