We’ve been selected by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) DOE Office of Clean Energy Demonstrations to build up to 175 microgrids for #rural #communityhealthcenters in the US southeast. Together with our CHARGE Partners: Capital Link, National Association of Community Health Centers (NACHC), and Clean Energy Group, and many other critical and community benefits partners like American Microgrid Solutions, Black Owners of Solar Services, Interstate Renewable Energy Council (IREC), and GRID Alternatives , we will be able to build resilience, and provide carbon reduction and financial savings for rural and remote health centers who are vulnerable to power loss and climate-caused natural disasters. The goal will be for health centers to better serve their communities while we also help train critical clean energy workforce in the region. Ours was one of 17 community-driven projects in rural and remote areas across the country selected to receive funding to build and upgrade clean energy infrastructure. Read more here: https://lnkd.in/d8ri8Vtz I'm so proud of the Collective Energy Company team for the effort it took to make this dream a reality.

Bringing clean and resilient power to critical facilities and better ways of responding to and giving for disasters
Jeff Goodell wrote this article in early June, about a potential heat scenario in Houston, before Hurricane Beryl hit Houston and wiped out power during a heat wave. Beryl was a Category 5 hurricane, the earliest ever recorded in July Atlantic hurricane. Beryl also set several other records including the first Category 4 hurricane in June ever recorded, and the earliest Category 4 hurricane ever recorded. Climate change leading to larger and more frequent hurricanes rising temperatures and heat waves power loss=a recipe for disaster. The good news is we have the tools to keep the power on at least, which will lead to less loss of life.

Bringing clean and resilient power to critical facilities and better ways of responding to and giving for disasters
Hospitals in Houston ‘Backed Up’ After Hurricane, as Millions in U.S. Swelter https://lnkd.in/ghaF8ij3 This is always the concern for emergency managers....having a natural disaster occur in the middle of a heat wave when the power has been knocked out so people can't be discharged from the hospital to go home and the hospitals become overcrowded. This is why we're focused on resilient power for health care. Especially for the most vulnerable

"It's the least thing we can do for our mother earth" --Jane Garcia, CEO So proud of our latest project completed for La Clínica de La Raza at their Vallejo, CA health center with our CHARGE Partners National Association of Community Health Centers (NACHC) and Capital Link and as always, with our partners and friends at American Microgrid Solutions This is just 1 of 3 projects underway with La Clinica, a critical #communityhealthcenter in the Bay Area that serves 80,000 patients and employs over 800 staff. Their CEO Jane Garcia is an absolute legend. And her amazing team drove this project forward, and also the next two! This site was able to easily afford this project thanks to a 50% #InflationReductionAct rebate and as a result, it will pay off in 5 years, and offset thousands of tons of carbon emissions! There's no good reason not to do this. https://lnkd.in/gFzXjp9z

Cities like Houston, where officials are slowly waking up to the risks of extreme heat, often tout cooling centers as a way to protect vulnerable residents. But what is a cooling center without power? I don't know, but it's not a cooling center.

I love this picture that David Ortega took so much. He recently captured one of Collective Energy Company solar installations at Mendocino Community Health Centers so beautifully. The joy, the camaraderie, the feeling of doing something good in your work. Thanks to GRID Alternatives for not just being the installer on the project, but supporting the training and education of a diverse and inclusive clean energy workforce.
