A human-first fertility ecosystem, striving to make egg freezing and third party reproduction more accessible for all.

About us

Cofertility is a human-first fertility ecosystem rewriting the egg freezing and egg donation experience. Our Freeze by Co platform enables women to freeze their eggs for free when they donate half of the eggs to a family that otherwise can’t conceive. For intended parents pursuing egg donation, our Family by Co platform serves as a more transparent, ethical egg donor matching platform. We are obsessed with improving the family-building journey — today or in the future — and are in an endless pursuit to make these experiences more positive.

Cofertility's new study highlights the current state of Egg Freezing in 2024 It was in 2013 that the American Society for Reproductive Medicine - ASRM stated that egg freezing was no longer ‘‘experimental’’ and opened the floodgates for routine use. And since then, egg freezing has been proven a safe and growing option for those seeking to navigate an increasingly complex reproductive landscape. Conducted in partnership with our medical advisors Dr. Marieme Mbaye, MD, FACOG, and Dr Meera Shah, Cofertility's State of Egg Freezing: 2024 Trends and Insights report aims to dive deeper into this trend, examining the motivations driving this demand, technological advancements, and the evolving societal implications of delayed parenthood. - Demand for egg freezing is soaring, with a 30% year-over-year increase in cycles - Motivations for egg freezing evolve with age and egg freezing offers flexibility amidst these changing life goals - The number of egg freezing cycles remains relatively small compared to other reproductive procedures - Egg freezing aligns with the broader trend of “later” parenthood, reflecting shifts in how women navigate career, relationships, and reproductive choices As egg freezing moves further into the mainstream, the coming years will undoubtedly reveal evolving dynamics and new layers of complexity within the rapidly changing field of reproductive health. As a clinic working with Cofertility, your patients will be able to match with our hundreds of pre-qualified egg donors. Through our unique egg sharing model, egg donors do not receive any cash compensation as part of their donation. Instead, they undergo a split cycle where they donate half of the eggs retrieved and then freeze and store the other half for up to 10 years for free. This model offers intended parents an option that aligns with their values and helps both parties take meaningful steps toward their family-building goals. ▪ Quickly match intended parents with a qualified egg donor: Each intended parent has their distinct preferences and requirements. With our proven track record of attracting diverse egg donors, we can help assist your clinic in meeting the needs of a wider spectrum of intended parents. ▪ All cycles are managed in accordance with your existing clinic protocols: We’ll have a dedicated onboarding session to document any clinic-specific protocols or SOPs. Everything from donor screening to travel will be done in complete alignment with your standard clinical, operational, and financial processes. ▪ Transparent and responsive team of Member Advocates: Throughout the cycle, our team of Member Advocates will offer administrative and emotional guidance to the donor and intended parent and serve as a liaison between both parties and the clinic. From 2021 to 2022 there was a 30% year-over-year increase in egg freezing cycles. While interest continues to grow, the actual number of egg freezing procedures is still in its infancy. Let's consider the number of egg freezing cycles within the broader context of reproductive choices: ❕ 29,083 egg freezing cycles reported to SART in 2022 ❕389,993 IVF cycles reported to SART in 2022 ❕500,000 vasectomies (a male sterilization procedure) in the U.S. annually ❕900,000 abortions in the U.S. in 2019 ❕3,661,220 births in the U.S. in 2022 These figures underscore the significant gap between the increasing awareness and curiosity surrounding egg freezing and its current utilization rate. As financial barriers are addressed, medical technology advances and societal acceptance solidifies, egg freezing is poised to become a mainstream fertility preservation option. At Cofertility, we’re excited to be part of this evolving landscape, providing innovative solutions and compassionate support for those exploring their reproductive options. #EggFreezing #FertilityPreservation #ThirdPartyReproduction #Cofertility #ReproductiveHealth #FamilyPlanning #IVF #SocietalChange #FutureOfFertility https://lnkd.in/gDc8HTm3

Our resources help parents navigate the complexities of genetics and identity, ensuring a nurturing and supportive environment. **Tools for Effective Communication** We offer tools for families and donors to communicate at a mutually agreed upon level, fostering open and respectful relationships. This approach ensures that all parties feel heard and valued throughout the process. **Listening and Learning** We are committed to listening to donor-conceived individuals and following the latest research in this space. Egg freezing is becoming more popular in the US, but it's an expensive process, averaging around $10,000. Despite the high cost, about 30,000 egg freezing cycles were performed in 2022, a huge jump from 7,600 in 2015. Cofertility’s Split program makes family planning more accessible by offering women more options. CEO and cofounder Lauren Makler was recently featured on 'CBS Mornings' where she discussed the company's egg-sharing program alongside participating members. Two trends stood out to me when we were making the initial investment into Cofertility. 1) Families are having babies later 2) More families are taking advantage of infertility treatments Both trends serve as an important backdrop for the data that Cofertility shared recently, in their first annual Report on the State of Egg Freezing. Cofertility surveyed ~75K women of reproductive age. You can read the report linked below for more detail on their findings which explore the needs of women who are exploring egg freezing. A key chart I'll highlight shows the growth in egg freezing cycles since this procedure was greenlighted for non-experimental use just over a decade ago. The growth in egg freezing demand over the past decade is impressive and still in it's early days. Egg freezing and IVF are relatively new technologies for fertility which give women -- and men! -- more flexibility in when they choose to start families.  If you care about reproductive rights and access, please support RESOLVE: The National Infertility AssociationHalle Tecco, MPH, MBA, the co-author of this report and cofounder and chair of Cofertility is a board member of Resolve, and they are doing excellent policy work around women's reproductive freedom.  https://lnkd.in/gyunPT2N

The news of the US Senate decision on The Right to IVF Act highlights the ongoing political and legal battles surrounding reproductive rights in the post-Roe v. Wade era and continues to showcase the need for advocacy and legislative efforts to secure comprehensive reproductive healthcare. Here are some tangible ways you can get involved: 1️⃣ Support organizations like RESOLVE: The National Infertility Association and access ways to act via their RESOLVE Advocacy Network 2️⃣ Write to your local legislators in favor of the bill and encourage support for future legislation  3️⃣ Speak publicly about protecting IVF and family building for all. Not only will this raise awareness for the issue but could help those in your circle who may be directly impacted by the decision feel seen.

    Co-Founder & CEO at Cofertility - we're hiring!!

“Fertility fog.” It's a term that describes the lack of knowledge that women in cultures and nations all over the world have about their own fertility, and it's more widespread and prevalent than you might think. A 2011 study in Fertility and Sterility, for example, surveyed 3,345 childless women in Canada between the ages of 20 and 50. Despite initially assessing their own fertility knowledge as high, the researchers found that only half of them could answer at least 6 out of 16 questions correctly. This comes as no surprise to those of us in the space. In my everyday conversations with Cofertility members, I'm consistently struck by how many women share that in the early days of their journey, they felt uncertain or misinformed about their own reproductive health. Hearing their stories deeply reinforces the importance of Cofertility’s mission: to empower women with the knowledge and resources they need to make informed decisions about their fertility. Cofertility began with the realization that the traditional process of finding an egg donor was transactional, sterile, and impersonal, reducing donors to anonymized numbers on a spreadsheet. In response, we created a meaningful, human-first, no cash-compensation egg donation matching platform that prioritizes support, transparency, and ethics for all parties involved. We're proud of the strides we've made in promoting a more equitable and compassionate approach to egg donation, and thrilled that along the way, we’ve been able to offer women more optionality, more autonomy over their family planning timeline, and greater accessibility to egg freezing so they can invest in their own reproductive future through our egg sharing programs. We are SO proud to partner with Evvy to celebrate Equal Research Day, a vital reminder that women were not required to be included in U.S. clinical research until 1993. This historic oversight has contributed to the significant gaps in our understanding of the female body and modern medicine. Today, we focus on the work that needs to be done to close these gaps. By pushing for more inclusive research and sharing stories that bridge the gender health gap, we’re working towards a future where women’s health is fully understood and prioritized. #fertility #infertility #womenshealth #reproductivehealth #equalresearchday
