Happy National Veep Day! However, today is not a celebration of the Vice President. Instead, it commemorates the presidential succession provisions in the US Constitution. On August 9th, 1974, Gerald Ford became president following Richard Nixon's resignation due to the Watergate scandal. Ford ascended to the presidency despite never being elected as vice president or president. This marked the first time a VP became president under such circumstances. #veep #constitution #history

📣 Blog update!   ***U.S. DISTRICT COURT SETS ASIDE FTC NONCOMPETE BAN*** The final rule was set to be published in the Federal Register on September 4, 2024, and effective on January 2, 2025. However, on August 20, 2024, the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Texas issued an order stopping the FTC noncompete rule from going into effect (after previously entering a temporary injunction only as to the parties in the case).[1] The court held that the FTC lacked statutory authority to issue its noncompete ban via rule making and that the FTC’s decision to ban noncompetes is arbitrary and capricious. The FTC is considering an appeal in the Fifth Circuit but as of now, no appeal has been filed. #blog #floridalaw #employer #employee https://lnkd.in/er5A37UF
