The IFDC Potato Value Chain Capacity Building (PCB) Project team welcomed a delegation from the Embassy of Ireland, Kenya to Nyandarua County on 4 November, providing an on-the-ground look at the project’s impact on small-scale potato farming. At Songa Mbele Farmer Field Business School (FFBS) group and the Pesi Farmers’ Cooperative, farmers shared inspiring stories of how the project has improved their livelihoods through access to high-quality seeds, advanced agricultural practices, and stronger market connections—transformative elements that IFDC has been championing. The delegation also visited the Pesi Cooperative cold storage facility, which is currently under construction. Once operational, the store will be a crucial resource in reducing post-harvest losses, stabilizing market prices, and enhancing regional food security. Through impactful partnerships like these, IFDC remains committed to enabling sustainable farming practices, community resilience, and stronger market linkages across the potato sector.
