Today we celebrate the 34th anniversary of the enactment of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). I cannot imagine my life without the rights the ADA has given me - my career, healthcare, the ability to be in public spaces with expectations that I will be able to access restrooms. We still have a long way to go in advancing opportunities for the disabled community, but I am reminded of how fortunate I am to live in a country where I am legally allowed to work, have a legal right to healthcare, and am not shamed for leaving my home. There are too many places in the world where disabled people do not have these rights. And I've seen it firsthand. So today, I celebrate! The first step to helping people around the world in the never ending quest for disability rights is access to mobility devices. Contribute to this effort at: https://lnkd.in/gcihmQPx And please, don't forget to celebrate your rights today and everyday!

  • A wave doesn't need to be a tidal wave to make an impact. Look for some of the steady ripples that are happening in insurtech and P&C insurance content, and Alan Demers, CPCU, AIC is right there behind them. It's no wonder he was selected by his peers to receive an InsurTech Hartford 🌊 Making Waves 🌊 award. CoVerse Communications turns to Alan's newsletter for insights every single day, and you should, too! Whitney Carpenter Doig and Zaira Salcido have a chat with Alan about how he is influencing innovation through content in this latest episode of CoVerse: The Podcast! https://lnkd.in/gsfjAjPf

  • Let us know if you believe in Will Watson, too! https://lnkd.in/gA3dm8FQ

CoVerse Communications believes in Will Watson. We are a proud PR partner and supporter of Quinn McGowan and his inspiring comic creation, "Project: Wildfire." This graphic novel is a tribute to his roots in Memphis… and his superhero is named after his real-life hero grandfather, Will Watson III. The story features Kaiju, mutants, monsters, vintage wrestling, and a hero we can all rally behind. It has been hailed as a fantastic story by comic legends like Gail Simone (Deadpool, Birds of Prey, Wonder Woman, Batgirl). For years Quinn has brought his creative and design work to various #insurancecontent brands, people, and projects, such as my company CoVerse, BEST Search Inc./Audry Torrence; Steven Griswold, CPCU, ARM, AIDA, AIS, CHRS; Insurance Nerds, 🇺🇸 Nick Lamparelli, and Cara Carlone, CPCU, API, AINS. You may just catch some insurance references in “Project: Wildfire” when you read it! Now we all get a chance to show up for Quinn. Within just 24 hours, he reached a quarter of his Kickstarter goal to bring "Project: Wildfire" to life. Your contribution will not only help him achieve his dream but also unlock exciting print and digital commemorative rewards from top comic artists. This short video explains it all (and you may spot my kids in there somewhere). Check out the Kickstarter link in the comments for more details and get ready to believe in Will Watson too.

  • 💥 CoVerse Communications is thrilled to share the news that Quinn McGowan's "Project: Wildfire" is LIVE! And you can become a part of this critically-acclaimed graphic novel and comic legend. 💥 Quinn—the designer and illustrator behind CoVerse's graphics, several Insurance Nerds projects, and BEST Search Inc.—brings Will Watson the Third to life in seven exhilarating issues of "Project: Wildfire." The iconic writer Gail Simone, (Deadpool, Wonder Woman, Birds of Prey, and Batgirl) hails "Project: Wildfire" as "A great mix of the best of classic superhero storytelling with a new voice and vibe. Hurry up with the next issue so I can find out what happens!" Will Watson III didn't want super powers -- he wanted to pay for his books and his tuition. When he signed up for an experimental trial at his college, he couldn't know how desperate Monsterwatch had become to fend off the plague that was on the horizon. A genetic predisposition and the chemical cocktail created an unprecedented reaction in Watson's body, making him Shelby City's best chance against impossible odds. You can follow the story AND receive both digital and physical collectible perks via the Kickstarter (link in first comment below). And follow CoVerse Communications for a special three-part podcast series featuring Quinn, coming soon. http://kck.st/4cVWDUg

In a post-Covid/remote-work-oriented workforce, our pets become part of the scenery, part of our Zoom calls, part of ourselves our colleagues see—or, in Bo Wrinkles’ case, hear—because he is a world-class snorer. Happy 5th bday to our second-most disgruntled team member. Thank you all for your consistence patience as he crashes, snorts, barks, and drags and rattles his chain leash obnoxiously in the background through your CoVerse Communications calls. We’ll be sure to address your concerns thoroughly in his upcoming annual review. #officedog

6 years ago this afternoon, with a pounding heart in my chest and an upset stomach, I bet on myself and started Adjunct Advisors, LLC. So much has changed in the business since then (logos! offerings! website! pricing!), but the biggest transformation has been deep inside of me - and looking back, the color of my hair was the easy part! I couldn't have known for sure that the "after" would be better than the "before" and that it would all be worth it in the "during." But I did know for sure that if change was going to happen, it had to start within *just play it safe, just tow-the-line, just be grateful, don't rock the boat, it'd be easier if I just didn't* me - even if it felt reckless and so not like something I would ever do. Today, I'm wildly proud of this quirky business I've built and the quirky life it supports - and wildly proud of the woman at its helm for taking that first step (and all of 'em since). Thanks for being with me for the ride. 💚 P.S. I'm not the first or only one who's contemplating leaving their 9 to 5 and doing their own thing; the notion is resonating with lots of us these days as we evaluate our relationship with our insurance career. If you're rage-dreaming (!) about a career change or repositioning your place within your own, I've been where you are, and am just a few steps ahead. If you'd like to connect intentionally, check below to schedule a one-off session with me for just this purpose. #womenininsurance #taketherisk #thisisinsurance #insurancesales #insurancecareers #entrepreneurship

When we coach CoVerse Communications clients on PR best practices, we remind them to be intentional and focused with any social messaging—whether it’s your personal brand or your business brand you’re speaking on behalf of. It can be tempting for executives and founders to feel they need to issue statements when news breaks. Beck Bamberger, PhD is one of the best PR minds in the business and we agree with her advice here. Particularly for insurance thought leaders, it’s good to ask yourself: - Might I be providing commentary on an active claim or insured event that could present a conflict of interest, now or in the future? - Does this news story involve a past/present/prospective client or a competitor? - Why do I feel compelled to share this here? Is this the right forum for these feelings? - Is my commentary in scope with our/my vision, mission, and audience and am I comfortable setting this precedent? - Would I want my employees, stakeholders, and partners to share similar posts in front of our audience? - Would I stand behind my words or my employees’/partners’ if a client was offended? Our advice is to take a pause… and reach out to your comms or PR person for input. https://lnkd.in/gQx8QTY7

Founders: When should you say something? As I shared with Sarah Dorothy Lynch yesterday: you'd spend every working hour responding to the horrors that happen in the world on a daily basis. Instead, you need to filter down to what pertains to your geography, your people, and your values and mission.
