It’s true: the Swiss don’t miss on #opensource While several European countries have been making gains with the adoption of open source software (OSS), Switzerland’s EMBAG legislation is a milestone – taking OSS to a new level. What are the risks and rewards? On CMS Critic, I talked to Mathias Bolt Lesniak – an open source evangelist affiliated with TYPO3 GmbH and the Open Website Alliance. We’ve spoken before about the opportunities and challenges with open source in the EU, and he has some keen observations about Switzerland’s bold step to mandate OSS for its public sector agencies. According to Mathias, Switzerland’s bold leadership on open source reflects a culture - and a long history – of democratic ideals. “Democracy is what I usually point to when I talk about the positive things open source can bring into countries.” It’s a great discussion about the evolution of OSS – and where things might be headed from here. Check it out: https://lnkd.in/eCy4HTdX

When it comes to #digitalexperiences, it’s not a material world… but a multi-channel world. As such, the demand for #content that can go anywhere – and everywhere – is increasing by the day. In this race to market, is your CMS a gateway to #digitaltransformation, or a barrier? In today’s Guest Critic post, Michael Lukaszczyk explores this question and unpacks why #headless is the way forward. He provides six ways to future-proof your CMS while elevating your tech teams to accelerate developer velocity, stay current with tech trends, and even avoid talent burnout. As CEO of Hygraph – a GraphQL #headlessCMS with a keen focus on content federation – Michael is in the trenches with a global team that’s leveraging headless to power advanced technical and content requirements. As always, he brings a sharp eye to the challenges and offers us actionable insight. A great read on CMS Critic: https://lnkd.in/gSGATTc2

Andrew Kumar is a #digital firebrand, and he’s been stoking the flames at Uniform. In his role as Global VP of Customer Solutions and Tech Ecosystems, he’s in the hot seat when it comes to driving Uniform’s value in a #composable landscape. He’s also a brilliant CMS guy (like most of the Uniform gang), which gives him a solid perspective on what’s happening in the market. We recently spoke about the latest evolution of Uniform’s Visual Workspace to a new plateau of Visual CMS Experience Manager. This is a bold move as the company embraces the growth of #experiencemanagement in the lexicon, and mines for greater value in a sea of choice and complexity. In today’s article on CMS Critic, we’ve got a comprehensive overview of the updates to the platform, diving into some dynamic features that continue to position Uniform as an innovator. As the vendor doubles down on its vision, Andrew says they’re eliminating the compromises – and the “publish and pray” mentality – that #marketers still struggle with. In that sense, it might feel “heavenly" to this audience. "We're trying to remediate the trade-offs to make the shift to composable more of a ‘slam dunk’ for a digital leader.” Every conversation with Andrew is a spark that lights things up. This one was no exception. Read it here: https://lnkd.in/eNRV3faY

Content, marketing, and #digital pros are known to be mavericks. They have to be – if they want to survive in this breakneck, warp-speed world of #DX. It’s no surprise that with the advent of #AI tools, many of these ambitious provocateurs rushed headstrong into the techie embrace of #ChatGPT and hundreds of other AI tools on the market. But are they considering how to use them responsibly? There’s a lot at stake, and Brian McKeiver has been thinking a lot about the opportunities and challenges. As co-owner of BizStream – a U.S.-based digital agency – he’s working closely with AI tools and #contentmanagement platforms that have integrated AI capabilities. In his Guest Critic article on CMS Critic, Brian brings his brilliance to the AI conundrum, evangelizing how “Responsible AI” is the key to achieving ethical, fair, and safe outcomes with this innovative, ever-evolving technology. “The AI and especially generative AI world is constantly changing, as are the laws and regulations around it," he says. "You must treat your AI policy as a living, breathing document. Schedule time to review it regularly, considering the changes that are coming in at a rapid pace.” This is a must-read. And as an added bonus, Brian is offering a downloadable worksheet to help guide the journey. Read it now 👉 https://lnkd.in/ehdkZCDp

Simply put, Kristina Podnar and Saira Jesani are champions of data – and their innovative work at the Data & Trust Alliance has produced inspiring results with far-reaching implications. Launched last November, the D&TA’s Data Provenance Standards provide terra firma for organizations looking to arm their #AI models and strategies with trustworthy #data. As Saira observed, the standards support better “rules for the road” around data quality, and that's translated into some notable outcomes for companies like IBM (there's a great case study in the story). The D&TA just released v1.0.0 of its Data Provenance Standards, with some key refinements based on testing, validation, and feedback. On CMS Critic, we’ve broken down the news and dug a little deeper into what this means for business value – as well as CMS, ad tech, and marketing strategies that are leveraging AI and data at a breakneck pace.
