The American Medical Association has been lobbying federally to adopt a rule providing physicians 72 hours to reach patients before electronically releasing life-altering results or deadly diagnoses. California enshrined a similar exception with CMA-sponsored #SB1419 in 2022. https://lnkd.in/gK4z_9KB

Workplace violence in ambulatory care settings has become increasingly prevalent. Chronic and complex health conditions are treated more frequently in outpatient settings, increasing the likelihood that patients and families may become frustrated. Many healthcare workers are not trained to safely respond to these behaviors and security resources might not be available, creating a vulnerable environment for healthcare workers. In this one-hour complimentary webinar hosted by the California Medical Association and sponsored by The Doctors Company, attendees will learn strategies for developing a formal workplace violence prevention plan, in accordance with California Senate Bill 553 (2023). Although the hospital announced Friday morning that it would preserve its trauma center, severe heart attack treatment program and stroke services, they will be downgraded to less comprehensive levels. Dr. Raj Gupta, the head of neurology and stroke services at the hospital, who has spoken out previously against the cuts, criticized the changes Friday, including the reduction in catheterization lab hours. https://lnkd.in/gDJhbcaz
