There's no replacement for strong community in impact-driven industries like climatetech. It's what generates opportunities and relationships between folks in the space, fosters partnerships between innovative players taking new solutions to market, and disperses the insights we all need to stay informed within this rapidly-evolving field.   Organizations like Terra.do, MCJ Collective, Work on Climate, CrowdSolve, Climate People, Climatebase, Climate Draft, and others have adopted a much-needed, large-scale approach to building the foundational platform for climate, creating the learning modules, job boards, Slack channels, and newsletters that have become the connective tissue linking up the millions of people dedicating their professional lives to this mission.   Other groups have followed a more bottoms-up take to cultivating this community. One in particular that I'm really excited to explore (and recently joined) is Climate Vine, a membership-based network curating topical small groups, socials, and off-the-record conversations with climate leaders. Very keen to see how the targeted approach engineered by Candice Ammori and team nurtures stronger relationship-building, deeper knowledge-sharing, and longer-term collaborations within the space.   Glad to share my experience with these communities with anyone interested and excited to learn from more climatetech warriors in the months ahead!

It's hard to believe that Tom Kalil of Schmidt Futures was our first ever external Climate Vine speaker back on April 13th. Since then, we've hosted dozens of speakers who have shared valuable insights with our 300 Members 🎉 These speakers are so fabulous that we want to share their key takeaways with the larger climate community here and in upcoming newsletters 🧠 For this inaugural piece focused on the intersection of climate innovation and policy, feel free to comment with what resonates most, relevant resources and examples you'd like to share, or tag in others who might be interested in these insights 🤗 **The PDF is downloadable for accessibility, so you can save it for yourself and/or share it with others. #climate #climatevine #insights

    Educationalist and Entrepreneur

I've found it incredibly rewarding to be part of the pioneering cohort of the Climate Vine. Candice Ammori has recreated the collegiate experience of bringing together people from around the world with similar intellectual interests and energy. It's been an excellent way to meet people who are sharing resources and mentoring to enter the burgeoning fields of climate tech and policy as mid-career professionals. It's made me think about how I can develop this as an additional layer of expertise that synergizes with my existing interests in fields like software, AI and education and has given me the confidence to work on related products and initiatives. The best part is that it's given me a reason to connect directly with many professionals of Pakistani origin and Stanford and Harvard alums looking for people with such interests. There's still a chance to be considered for the second cohort with the deadline coming up on September 25th: www.climatevine.co/apply

DEI Technologist | Emerging Tech Enthusiast | Sustainable Development & Climate Justice Advocate | Futurist | Keynote Speaker *all views are my own*

My journey in the Climate justice space has been non-linear. I came by way of community development and policy advocacy for Black communities who have seen decades of intentional disinvestment. I was taken by the hand of my community, my people, the front line organizers. We co-conspired, we infiltrated, we made incremental and large scale progress. And along the way I learned about human rights, sustainable development, circular economy, democratizing and decentralizing decision-making. I became a dissenter and an activist for climate justice because I have seen first hand its devastating impact as a Louisiana native. This is the work I am called to do. I want to disrupt, dissent, and dismantle colonialism, imperialism, ⚪️ supremacist ideology and systemic oppression. Specifically in Black communities in the Global South. Part of my journey is to constantly learn and be curious, with humility, AND to influence, mobilize, and activate those within power structures, with power, to come alongside. To do this work, it takes fortitude, integrity and a neverending motivation to "create where I belong". To that point, I am excited to be accepted into Climate Vine's newest cohort! In the Vine, global climate thought leaders, entrepreneurs, policy makers, investors, scientists, and practitioners come together to help each other drive more transformational change. Through curated small groups, masterminds, and off-the-record discussions, I’m looking forward to engaging and collaborating with other Members to accelerate our personal and collective action. Thank you to Candice Ammori for creating this cohort experience and Chante Harris for recommending it! #climatejustice #liberation #community
