Finance and Biodiversity Day will bring together key stakeholders to discuss challenges, opportunities, and innovative financial strategies. Congratulations to Portfolio Summits on the successful Brazil LP Summit! We were honored to have Phillipe Käfer, our Brazil Lab Program Lead, moderate the Impact Investment & ESG session, which highlighted the growing importance of ESG criteria among institutional investors.
The second half of the Brazil LP Summit continued to deliver valuable insights and networking opportunities – The “Rise of Private Capital in Latin America” presentation with Brigid Connor, CFA, CAIA, AVP of Research Insights at Preqin explored the rapidly evolving alternatives market in Brazil and Latin America, highlighting diverse economic and geographic investment opportunities. Following this presentation, the focus shifted to Institutional Allocations to Venture Capital – This session, moderated by Gabriel Casella, CFA (Partner) at Península Participações delved into the benefits of venture capital funds in accessing cutting-edge technology and addressing critical issues such as climate change and diversity. Panelists Rony Porat (Senior Vice President & Head of Brazil) at IDB Bank; Thomaz Figueiredo (Founding Partner) at Provence Partners; and Carolina Assis (Private Equity & Venture Capital) at Turim Family Office, discussed how institutions identify real opportunities for returns. The next discussion, moderated by Carlos Alberto Zachert (Chief Investment Officer) at Postalis - Previdência Complementar, provided insights into the dynamic world of alternative assets with a focus on private debt and private credit. Panelists included Leonardo Mandelblatt, CP3P-F, CGA, CGE (Chief Investment Officer) at FAPES; Luciano Lautenberg (Managing Director) at Kawa Capital Management; Victor Hohl, CGA, ICSS, AETQ (Chief Investment Officer) at Sebrae Previdência; and Mário Guerreiro (Director of Illiquid Alternatives) at UBS Wealth Management. Speakers Francis Nascimento (Director of Investments) at Prevcom (SP); Marcelo Seraphim (Head of Brazil) at Principles for Responsible Investment; and Raphael Santoro (Director of Investments) at WTW, discussed approaches to ESG integration, the risks of "greenwashing," and the challenges and differences of ESG in emerging versus developed markets. The final session of the day, “Strategies, Trends, and Opportunities for 2024”, discussed the most effective approaches to exploring offshore and onshore markets, current trends, key areas of interest for the second half of 2024, and strategies for generating returns from offshore markets while being based in Brazil. Moderated by Daniel Rummery(Founding Partner) at Brunel Partners , this session featured experts Karen Forneck Cardoso Michels CFP® (Financial Planner) at AQVA Wealth Management; and Dennis Kac, CFA (Investment Director) at Brainvest Brasil Wealth Management.
