Impact Entrepreneur | Chief of Staff | Innovation manager @Bosch 🚀 | To change the world we start inside. 💖

With the @NY Climate Week kicking off this week, I thought this was an opportune moment to share a little secret project so far. I have been doing a ton of reflecting on my career in the last weeks and months and see a huge opportunity in moving entrepreneurial talent and resources to solve some of the big challenges we are facing with climate adaptation, mitigation, and engineering innovation to stay within our planetary boundaries. I feel this is a means to work toward eco-social equity. As Dr. Jonathan Foley puts it - Cliamte Solutions fix equity. Three weeks ago, I was accepted into the Climatebase Fellowship program this fall as part of Cohort 6. The 12-week program is a Climate career accelerator, full of incredible content from Neil Yeoh of OnePointFive, keynotes by thought-leaders in the space Like Sophie Purdom from Planeteer Capital, inspiring sessions on impact capital for zebras from Claire Raffel and Tim Freundlich, expert panels, and so many wonderful driven community members sharing inspiring capstone projects. Loved the talk with Shreenath R. and David P. on starting out to build a start-up in the space. Loved Dr. @Thomas Hale take on the policy work from Oxford towards the long Climate challenges. I have begun to realize the optimism, creativity, stories and narratives, grit and genius of exceptional people across different walks of life, coming together to solve problems. I learnt ideas from California's energy distribution system to the global south leaps in Agtech. I am recognizing my relentless desire and excitement to learn and wanted to share the opportunities where we can do things that matter most. The science, the technology, the underlying business incentives, policy frameworks and grass movements are perspectives that are filling gaps in my knowledge towards the climate phenomenon. Beyond all - more than anything, it is the community that is making this experience phenomenal. Evan Hynes, Kendall Jenkins, Vesselina Apostolova, David P., Magda Kufrej (she/her), Thank you for creating an open space. The people from the cohort the scientists & researchers, communication experts, consultants, policymakers, journalists, engineers, meteorologists, designers, and architects who bring in perspectives from across the world, and their varied definitions of sustainability to what it means to care for the people and the planet is truly nourishing my thinking! I hope to share this with all of you. One thing I know for sure: We ought to DREAM BIG when it comes to Climate equity. We need entrepreneurial hearts beating for the Climate eco-social equity. We need to stray away from what exists to create the change. 🚀 Looking forward to sharing more as we go along! hashtag #ClimateAction #ClimateAdaption #Climateinvesting #VCtowardsecosocialequity #impactinvesting #optimism #climatecommunity #NYClimatecommunity

Product Leader | 2x Founder | Climatebase Fellow | Sidebar Member | Mentor & Advisor to New Entrepreneurs

Earlier today, I was in a quick conversation with a hiring manager in the climatetech space. They asked me if I had any examples of my work on *non-gaming* consumer mobile apps... ...and I was able to reference Accountable, the climate-friendly diet app we worked on as a Climatebase Cohort 5 Capstone Project! While the project itself kind of fizzled out after Climatebase, given that everyone (including myself) got busy with finding work, new jobs, grad school etc., we collectively got a lot of great work done on market research, product outlining, UI / UX, and even building a simple prototype. And it was ready to forward to an HM earlier today! In other words, it fell right into Climatebase's argument for Capstones: proving that you are serious about solving the climate crisis while also demonstrating that your skillset translates to the new domain. So, regardless of how this particular interaction works out, thank you to Climatebase for bringing us all together to work on Accountable. And thank you again to Ian Christie, Jair Oballe, Tolu Garcia, Rebecca Sand, Danielle (Musa) Mullen, and many others for contributing your time, energy and talent to the project ❤️ #climatetech #climatebase

🌍 Climate policies: what makes them stick? A fascinating new report has unveiled some surprising insights into why some climate policies succeed while others fall flat. Here are the key takeaways: 📊 Out of 1500 policies analyzed, only 63 across 41 countries made a real dent in emissions. These successful policies led to an average reduction in pollution of 19% or more over 24 years. 🔑 The secret sauce? It's not just about having policies - it's about smart integration with economic and social strategies. 🎯 Ambition matters. Many policies failed simply because they weren't bold enough to drive significant change. 👑 Consistency is king. Short-lived or inconsistently applied policies rarely moved the needle. 🔨 Tools of change: The most successful approaches combined policies with incentives and taxes. It's all about those carrots and sticks! 💡 One size doesn't fit all. What works in one country may flop in another due to economic, political, or social differences. 💰 Surprise factor: Taxation emerged as a powerful tool when paired with strong policies. For example, the UK saw success by combining coal reduction policies with subsidies for renewables and a carbon minimum price. What are your thoughts on this? How can we apply these lessons to drive more effective climate action? Did you know that the transportation sector accounts for approximately 20% of global CO2 emissions? 🚗🌍 Last week, Cohort 6 of the Climatebase Fellowship dove deep into this critical area, exploring innovative solutions to decarbonize our mobility systems. We were honored to host a deep dive session led by Xiaoli Mao, Program Lead at The International Council on Clean Transportation. Xiaoli shared invaluable insights on decarbonization pathways for the shipping industry, highlighting the environmental impacts of heavy fuel oil and the promising transition to cleaner alternatives. Her expertise in providing data-driven analysis to policymakers left our Fellows inspired about the potential for change in this often-overlooked sector. Our industry panel brought together a stellar lineup of experts in sustainable transportation. Andrew K., VP of Strategy and Business Development at Inspiration Mobility, Alice Yiu, Director of Policy Outreach and Strategic Communications at SLOCAT Partnership on Sustainable, Low Carbon Transport, and Paul Gross, Co-Founder & CEO of Remora, shared their diverse perspectives on the future of low-carbon transport. 🚀 From carbon capture technology for semi-trucks to the importance of integrated urban planning, the discussion painted a comprehensive picture of the challenges and opportunities in transforming our transportation systems. 🌟 Our weekly Climate Careers Panel featured Kylie Sale, EV Go-To-Market Strategy Manager at Ford Motor Company, and Joe Miler, Founder & CEO of Jaro Fleet Technologies. Their insights into career paths in sustainable transportation ephasized the value of adaptability and diverse skill sets in this rapidly evolving field. We're very grateful to Magda Kufrej for leading another insightful job-seeker workshop, equipping our Fellows with strategies to craft standout CVs in a competitive climate job market. Last week has reinforced the critical role of transportation in our climate future and the myriad ways our Fellows can contribute to this sector. And despite the hustle and bustle of Climate Week NYC, our Fellows showed incredible dedication and engagement. We're continually amazed by the dedication of our Fellows to learn and engage 💚 Interested in being part of this transformative journey?
