10 years ago, Climate Mayors made its debut on the Clinton Global Initiative (CGI) stage during Climate Week. At #ClimateWeekNYC, our Executive Director Kate Wright and Chair Cleveland Mayor Justin M. Bibb unveiled our latest commitment to ensure a more equitable electric vehicle transition: supporting cities in deploying 180,000 EV chargers in disadvantaged communities by 2035. This announcement is part of a broader commitment supported by CGI, launched earlier this summer to electrify 50% of municipal fleets by 2030 and bring 450,000 chargers to cities by 2035. We were joined by fellow climate leaders Mayor Mike Cahill of Beverly, MA, Mayor Caroline Simmons of Stamford, CT, and Mayor Thomas Roach of White Plains, NY to celebrate a decade of local climate leadership and our new commitment. Climate Mayors has been at the forefront of supporting local EV infrastructure & providing greater access to those who need it most. We’re excited to work alongside the Clinton Global Initiative & the Joint Office of Energy and Transportation to bring this commitment to life.
