What's preventing them from connecting to the grid is in large part a lack of transmission lines and the need to upgrade transmission infrastructure,” she says. “There's a need to look at how to build a more dynamic, flexible, responsive grid.”

CEBA applauds U.S. Senators Joe Manchin (I-WV) and John Barrasso (R-WY), Chairman and Ranking Member of the U.S. Senate Committee on Energy & Natural Resources, for their work on the bipartisan Energy Permitting Reform Act of 2024, released today. https://lnkd.in/gHExCUBA “Support for these reforms shows that transmission policy can and should be a bipartisan priority,” said Kyle L. Davis, CEBA’s senior director of federal affairs. “Collectively, CEBA’s members are driving billions in new energy investments across the country. Our members’ ability to continue to grow and innovate is directly tied to their ability to access affordable, reliable, and clean energy to power their operations. The U.S. electric grid is vital to our economy and in urgent need of 21st-century modernization. Right now, outdated federal permitting policies and aging grid infrastructure are standing in the way of new investments in the U.S. economy. We urge Congress to continue to move this bill into law.”

CEBA was thrilled to attend the White House Financing Clean Energy for Industrial Decarbonization: Spotlight of Aluminum event that brought together over 55 stakeholders from the public and private sector, including aluminum producers, financiers, White House and DOE staff, NGO advocates and more to address challenges facing the growth of clean aluminum in the U.S. It is crucial that we identify inclusive solutions to ensure a resilient domestic aluminum industry and pave the way for clean energy deployment that enables broader industrial reshoring and boosts competitiveness. In this effort, we must secure an affordable supply of clean electricity for the aluminum sector and growing U.S. economy. CEBA also co-hosted a reception with The Climate Group and SAFE, providing a platform for continued networking and dialogue among participants from various clean industry events in Washington, DC. This engagement underscored CEBA's commitment to fostering partnerships and driving forward the agenda for a sustainable future in industrial decarbonization.
