On Wednesday, Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA) Director Sandra Thompson and her team visited a new Clayton CrossMod home in Atlanta. One of only two CrossMod homes inside the City of Atlanta, this modern manufactured home represents new opportunities for attainable urban infill and energy efficiency. We are grateful for Director Thompson’s time on Wednesday and the discussion to bolster attainable homeownership options and inclusive zoning policies for urban areas.

The Harvard Joint Center for Housing Studies recently released its final study called “Overcoming Barriers to Manufactured Housing” in a series that addresses the role modern manufactured homes have in providing attainable homeownership opportunities for today’s ‘missing middle’ housing market. The research highlights case studies of five organizations that are expanding the use of these homes, including CrossMod® homes, in markets where off-site built construction has traditionally been under-utilized or restricted. Today, Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear and Clayton broke ground on a new neighborhood in London, Kentucky, which will feature 51 eBuilt CrossMod homes. Through annual energy cost savings, we can help provide homeowners with a lower cost of homeownership over the life of their home – opening doors for more families.
