On Tuesday, July 30 at 1:00 P.M. ET, Dr. Christopher Perrin will chat with author David V. Hicks about his forthcoming book, "The Stones Cry Out!" Broadly speaking, "Stones" wrestles with the question, "What is real?" The realist is the person who knows the answer and strives to live within the real—not an imagined or theoretically constructed—world. The author shows how the biblical proto-myths in Genesis offer a better account of reality than the flawed modern myths of reason, science, and the imagined self. Register now, prepare your questions, and bring them to the webinar! Classical Academic Press reposted this
Classical Languages Chair at Grace Academy of Georgetown; Facilitator of Learning in Classical Languages and Ancient Humanities; Author for Classical Academic Press; Board Member, Institute for Classical Languages
I am delighted to share that ClassicalU.com has launched my latest course, "Classical Art & Archaeology: Teaching Latin and the Humanities with the Monuments of Rome." For the past decade, and especially during my graduate studies at the #UniversityofEdinburgh, my research has focused on those happy places in which textual evidence aligns with material evidence. That is to say where Latin literature speaks to classical art and archaeology and vice versa. We can learn so much by studying the two in tandem while at the same time igniting the imaginations of our students. This course focuses on those works which one might see on a trip to Italy, and especially Rome, and discusses those works in light of what classical writers had to say about them. Thus, this course provides a most excellent opportunity to use Latin to explore art, history, and literature as well as language. All texts are presented both in Latin and in English translation, making this course accessible and delightful for all. For those who are involved with student trips to Italy, this course can also help you prepare for the wonders you will encounter along that adventure. #classicalu #classicalacademicpress course link: https://lnkd.in/gFF9iVQP

What distinguishes the "great" books from the "little" ones? As we ask what makes "great" books, Dr. Brian Williams considers the writings of Frederic Harrison, the man who coined the term "great books," in order to find a guide for recognizing the great books among the "little" books. What gifts does great literature impart to readers, and how do we distinguish books with these attributes amid the clamor of "bad men’s worst thoughts" in today's readily available libraries? Read Dr. Williams' new article to find out! Interested in more discussion about "great books?" Register now, and join us for our second Disputed Question webinar on Tuesday, July 9th! ⬇️ Read the Article: https://hubs.la/Q02FhSkB0 Free to Register for the Webinar | Recording Will Be Sent to All Registrants: https://hubs.la/Q02Fj4bc0
