This event will be a 60-minute unscripted interview, followed by a 30-minute Q&A session. RSVP to bit.ly/CCI-Johnson Tickets are a donation to help cover costs of the event. If you can't swing it, just email us at [email protected] and we are happy to help you get registered.

  • This November, voters will elect a new member of Atlanta City Council for Post 3 At-Large. This seat serves the entire city of Atlanta. Join us for an unscripted, 90 minute moderated discussion on October 3 at the IBEW building with candidates as we discuss their qualifications, policy platforms, and how they would address social and economic inequality in Atlanta. There will also be an opportunity for audience members to ask questions. Grab your seat at bit.ly/P3Forum. This forum and questionnaire are part of #VoteATL, a coalition of community organizations and leaders in Atlanta focused on informing and engaging residents in local elections, led by the Center for Civic Innovation. This year’s #VoteATL partners include: Atlanta Civic Circle, Black Male Initiative Georgia, Canopy Atlanta, Capital B Atlanta, Georgia ACT, Georgia Latino Alliance for Human Rights, Helping Empower Youth, HouseATL, Housing Justice League, MARTA Army, New Disabled South, Propel ATL, and the Southern Center for Human Rights. Note: This event was scheduled for October 3, unintentionally the same day as the start of a Jewish holiday, Rosh Hashanah. We truly apologize for this oversight. As the venue and candidates have already been confirmed, we are unable to change the date of the forum. It will be streamed and recorded for people who cannot attend to watch at a later time. Please don't hesitate to reach out to us at [email protected] with any concerns or questions.

  • At a recent City Council meeting, Atlanta's Inspector General, Shannon Manigault, revealed that her office is in a "state of emergency" due to obstruction by high-level City officials. In light of these serious allegations, we are hosting a one-on-one conversation with Manigault on Tuesday, July 30. We’ll discuss her background, her recent tenure as NYC’s Inspector General, the current challenges facing her office, and the necessary steps to ensure it continues to “root out fraud, waste, abuse, corruption, and misconduct in the city.” RSVP at bit.ly/CCI-SM Ticket proceeds help cover event costs. If you need assistance with registration, please email us at [email protected].

Back at it with the Center Civic Innovation for a morning focused on education policy 📚🎒🏫 I'm the daughter of a science teacher and fiercely involved parent advocate within the Savannah public school ecosystem. Some of my earliest memories are of STACKS of records (books larger even than og phone books) at home filled with school data, ranging from demographics to outcomes from every school across the district. Conversations about redistricting impacts, school board decisions, and every single page of those books were frequent dinner conversations. Pairing those foundational experiences with time in my own classroom only made me more passionate about education reform. So it's no surprise that I LOVED getting to learn from Stephen Owens and Rohit Malhotra as their conversation explored the impact of state and local policy on education in Atlanta and beyond. A big thank you to both for their perspectives, and the CCI team for coordinating the event. (Special shout out to Lauren Jaramillo for *incredibly* thoughtful questions / background context. 🎉) And as always, CCI brought together an incredible group of folks to the table - loved sharing the experience with Rachel Sprecher, Annie Appleton, Keonnie Igwe, and new friends too. 💗
