“When I first arrived at CityTeam, I was scared but also felt a sense of peace. It was hard to explain but I know that God had guided me through my troubled past and had led me to a place where I had a chance at a better life... One month after coming to CityTeam, I was baptized at Central Christian Church. That was one of the best feelings I’ve had in my life. I know that my wife was watching from Heaven.” -Michael, CityTeam San Jose Graduate 🎓 #journeys #nextchapter #sobrietyjourney #sobermotivation #journeyoflife #celebratefreedom

🎪👕🧸We had a fantastic collaboration in San Jose to celebrate Día de los Niños for our local neighborhood, giving out free food, clothes, haircuts, and lots of carnival games! Nearby churches like Echo.Church and Korean Emmanuel Presbyterian partnered with us, along with the San Jose Police Department and Convoy of Hope. We are so blessed to give back to our community with this day of celebration for kids❣️ #loveyourneighbor #givebacktoyourcommunity #partnership #santaclara #sanjosehborsinneed

Lance Orton, Executive Director of CityTeam Portland, is a newer friend of mine and his personal story of how he got to Portland is unlike any you've ever heard before. In a few short years, he went from heroin addict, penniless, without a shirt on his back to walking into the doors at CityTeam in SE Portland and soon rose into leadership as Exec Director, then grew the organization to 3x its size and impact and working with thousands of its members where CityTeam provides services to the addicted and homeless. Such a powerful story and an example of how Portland can be a redemption story for many of us. You're gonna wanna hear's Lance's story in the video below, but also you're gonna wanna get engaged in the Portland biz community via #webelieveinportland and meet some incredible people with shared values and a willingness to improve our beloved city. Losing her grandparents was just the beginning of many years of grief for Imani. Shortly after, her mom’s vision and overall health started deteriorating due to diabetes. But Imani is a shining example of someone who rises above adversity 🕊️ “I know that through God, anything is possible.” -Imani, CityTeam Oakland Graduate 🎓 Read Imani’s complete story and many more at cityteam.org/stories #soberandproud #recoveryispossible #12steps #cleanandsober #testimony #goodnewsfeed

Exciting developments at CityTeam Portland!
Executive Director | CityTeam Portland Night Strike | Vice President, Central Eastside Together board of directors | Shelter Portland board member | Dedicated to the revitalization of the Portland Metro Area
Five and a half years ago, I recall sitting in my 98 square foot sleeping room at CityTeam Portland after a brief period of homelessness due to heroin addiction, reading a copy of the Portland Business Journal that someone had left behind. I had entered the CityTeam Renew Recovery Program because I had no options left. As I read my involuntarily donated copy of the publication, I remember dreaming about being involved in all the cool things I was reading about happening in Portland. Never in a million years would I have thought I would actually be leading one of those very cool projects myself! Today we celebrate a huge milestone towards adding 100 recovery beds to the Portland area! Thank you to all who have supported us on this journey so far. Lots of work ahead of us, but for today, we celebrate this achievement!

"Growing up, both of my parents went to prison, and I found myself, along with my siblings, in foster care. Eventually, I got involved in gangs and street life. For the next 14 to 15 years, my life consisted of jail, prisons, and drug programs... A few years ago, I finally let go of my anger toward God and started to build a relationship with him. I decided to pursue my career, enrolling myself back in school and finishing my high school education. I’m not going to rush anything; I will be patient. I know all things will happen in God’s time." -James, CityTeam San Jose Graduate 🎓 #journeys #nextchapter #sobrietyjourney #sobermotivation #journeyoflife #celebratefreedom

🏓 Pickleball is all the rage these days, and our San Jose residents joined the fun! Getting the court ready was a team effort; a generous employee purchased the net for the residents while others taped down the official court lines. The men in the program had a riveting pickleball tournament, double-elimination bracket 🤝 After the competition, all were rewarded with ice cream to cool off 🍨😁 Just another great day of sobriety! #sobrietyrocks #soberfun #pickballislife #fortheboys #nonprofitorg #teamsports
