Creating a more equitable and sustainable future.

About us

With such incredible, material progress over the last 100 years, why are we still in a situation where many people are just barely getting by? Over the last couple of years serial entrepreneur and investor, Marc Lore, has been focused on trying to answer that question. While researching, he was inspired by a book called Progress and Poverty by Henry George, a late 19th-century economist, who was asking the same question. Capitalism has been an incredible economic model, but there are significant flaws, especially around income and wealth inequality. Many of these flaws are a result of the land ownership model that America was built on... There's a finite amount of land and that land was claimed generations ago — communities were created, tax dollars were used to invest in the land, and therefore the land increased in value over time with landowners not having to produce anything or take any risk. Land could essentially go from a barren piece of desert to a modern day city worth billions (or even trillions!). It brought up more questions and Marc began thinking through a potential solution... What if that land had been owned by a community endowment? What if you took that land appreciation and gave it back to the community since they created the value? What if we had a clean slate to demonstrate this new model? And, what if you made that city the most sustainable city in the world? Today, we've built a growing, diverse team of experts to continue to ask and solve these questions (and more!). Our vision is big. It’s not only about creating the city of Telosa itself — one that sets the standard for urban, big city living. It’s also about the people — creating opportunity and equality, celebrating diversity and inclusion, and a sense of pride for where we live. In the end, if we get Equitism, it could serve as the blueprint for a new economic model that the world can learn and benefit from.

We are not defined by the limits others place on us.  𝗝𝗼𝗵𝗻 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿𝘀 https://lnkd.in/gSCQfmgg , former CEO of Cisco Systems and current CEO of JC2 Ventures, was featured in a recent webinar for the MSIV Global Leaders Series. He shared that before becoming a respected business leader, he had to overcome the challenges of being dyslexic. His condition was so severe, his teachers told John's parents that he probably would not graduate from high school. He did and it gave him the confidence that he could do anything in life. He became one of the most successful corporate leaders in the world by focusing on 3 things: 1) business opportunity, 2) people and 3) corporate culture.    He also shares a strong commitment to expand opportunity and make sure everyone has access to a good education and jobs training/skills upgrading. John lives his values by being very active in his native West Virginia where he works closely with government officials, educational institutions, non-profits, residents and local businesses to create an environment that ensures everyone has access to the jobs of the future and no one is left behind. Telosa also values these ideals. https://bit.ly/4d6VOYk

Shouldn’t we know how our tax dollars are spent? We think so. Our partner Polco is working with several US cities on a new concept: the 𝗕𝗮𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗔𝗰𝘁 𝗧𝗮𝘅𝗽𝗮𝘆𝗲𝗿 𝗥𝗲𝗰𝗲𝗶𝗽𝘁 to demonstrate to residents how their money is being spent. We get a receipt for everything else! Transparency in government is an important aspect of being open, one of Telosa's core values. The taxpayer receipt tool is a new, innovative idea that brings greater government transparency, accountability, and community participation. Learn more. https://bit.ly/3xFSLY8

Independence Day marks the historic date when the American colonies declared their independence. This boldly established a new nation of states with an emphasis on individual rights and self-governance. Our founding fathers were seeking a better way of doing things.  As we come together to commemorate the occasion and reflect on its meaning, Telosa believes the shared celebration of our country’s heritage helps unite us, supporting strong community connections. We are also seeking a better way of doing things.  https://bit.ly/3W8z4RZ

Bhutan pioneered the development of the Gross National Happiness Index in the 1970s starting a global movement to go beyond GDP in measuring the well-being and progress of a nation. The four pillars of GNH are sustainable and equitable socio-economic development, environmental conservation, preservation and promotion of culture, and good governance. Many international bodies such as the UN and OECD have since recognized the importance of this innovation and adopted many of its core tenets in their own indices. As Telosa develops our own assessment tool for community connections with our partner, Polco, we can all learn and benefit from the work of Bhutan and others to measure improvements in quality of life for people worldwide. https://bit.ly/4ch2we1

In creating a more equitable and sustainable future, one of the challenges is how to measure progress towards these goals. What objective metrics do we have for greater opportunity and higher quality of life? There is a group of economists developing new and important measurement tools that go Beyond GDP by including factors such as resilience, health and wellness, sustainability, quality of life, inclusive growth and more. https://bit.ly/3yPJLQc

The World Happiness Report for 2024 continues to demonstrate that well-being and quality of life are a byproduct of more factors than just economic growth. Factors such as the strength of community and the social safety net are important contributors to a flourishing society. This year’s report focuses on different age categories and one concerning trend is the global fall in happiness among people born since 1980. Telosa believes creating greater opportunity and stronger community connections can help reverse this trend. https://bit.ly/4bCpiNr

On Memorial Day, we remember and honor the military personnel who have died in service to our country. As our cities and towns commemorate with parades and decorate memorials with wreaths, we come together as a community. At 3:00 PM local time, we hope you will consider joining in the National Moment of Remembrance, pausing for one minute in silent tribute to all those who have honorably served and made the ultimate sacrifice for our nation. https://bit.ly/4avkd8g
