As our 2024 Beautiful Blocks cycle moves forward, our staff recently conducted orientation and training sessions for block captains in The City of Scranton, Carbondale, and Pittston. Beautiful Blocks is an exterior improvement grant program that provides matching funding to groups of residents in participating cities, helping them to make exterior improvements to their homes. Block captains are participating residents who help guide their neighbors through the program cycle, from initial applications to completion of projects. Our orientation and training sessions allow block captains to meet with our staff, city representatives, and other partners, helping them to learn tips and best practices for maximum success of projects. Applications will open for the next cycle of Beautiful Blocks early in the 2025 calendar year. Interested residents in participating cities (Scranton, Carbondale, Pittston) are encouraged to contact Gerard at 570-558-2490 to learn more about the program, and to join our contact list of prospective applicants.
