On June 19, 1865, Union soldiers arrived in Galveston, Texas, bringing news of freedom to those who had been enslaved, marking a significant step toward equality and justice. Juneteenth is not just a historical milestone; it’s a celebration of resilience, culture, and progress. It reminds us of the importance of acknowledging our past, understanding its impact on the present, and working together to create a more inclusive future. As we celebrate today, let’s take a moment to reflect on the strides we’ve made and the work still ahead.
