The City of Greeley is proud to highlight the collaborative efforts of local organizations working to connect our community with nature through storytelling and exploration. The new children's book, “My Great Adventure with Nana”, beautifully illustrated by Armando Silva, brings the magic of adventuring in the outdoors to life through a child's eyes. This project was made possible thanks to support from Trust for Public Land, Great Outdoors Colorado (GOCO), and our local partners at the High Plains Library District and Weld Community Foundation . Together, we’re committed to making nature more accessible and engaging for all by promoting outdoor experiences at Greeley’s natural areas. This book, available at various libraries in the region, is just one of the ways we’re encouraging families to explore the outdoors and appreciate the rich wildlife and landscapes Greeley has to offer. We are also hosting A Day of Adventure event at Greeley's newest natural area on October 5, featuring a live reading of "My Great Adventure with Nana," which was inspired by this natural area, along with a nature scavenger hunt and guided trail walks, encouraging families to experience the beauty of our local landscapes firsthand. By fostering these partnerships, we’re helping to preserve our natural spaces while inspiring the next generation to embrace the beauty and adventure that can be found right here in our community. #Greeley #GreeleyColorado #ColoradoOutdoors #GreeleyPartnerships #CommunityCollaboration #OutdoorExploration #PublicSpaces

As the summer market season for the Greeley Farmers' Market wraps up in just a few short weeks, we’re reflecting on the tremendous impact our market has had on the community this year. From connecting local vendors with customers to supporting food security through SNAP, WIC, and Double Up Food Bucks, we’re proud of the role we've played in providing fresh, local produce to Greeley residents. In fact, our Farmers' Market is one of only 11 in the state of Colorado that accept WIC! A special thanks to Garden and Health online magazine for featuring the Greeley Farmers' Market for our continued efforts in addressing food deserts and promoting sustainable agriculture! Check out the article here: https://lnkd.in/gug8NR4n We're not slowing down! The winter market kicks off in November at Zoe’s Café and Events, connecting residents and visitors with local products every 1st and 3rd Saturday through April. A few weeks ago, while working to ensure safety along the Poudre River Trail, the City of Greeley's Natural Areas and Trails team made an unexpected discovery—a beehive in a hazard tree. Understanding the importance of protecting pollinators, our staff quickly reached out to the Colorado Beekeepers Association for assistance. A local beekeeper responded and safely relocated the bees, ensuring their survival through the winter. The timing was fortunate; it turned out the bees didn’t have enough honey stores to last the season. Thanks to this quick action, the bees will now have a safe place to thrive, receiving extra care, including sugar water through the colder months. This serves as a reminder of the critical role pollinators play in our ecosystems. You can make a difference by planting wildflowers that bloom throughout the season, providing bees and other pollinators with the resources they need.
