Exciting changes are coming to McKay Park, a 1.68-acre neighborhood park that has served the Clearwater Beach residential community for more than 40 years. Located at 605 Mandalay Ave., the park’s renovations include six new pickleball courts, a new playground, outdoor exercise equipment, a resurfaced bocce ball court, new shade structures, stormwater improvements, improved landscaping and park amenities. "McKay Park has been a gathering place for beach residents and visitors for decades," said Clearwater Mayor Bruce Rector. "These renovations not only enhance the park's facilities but also reflect our commitment to providing recreational spaces that meet the evolving needs of our residents. We look forward to seeing people enjoy the new courts and amenities.” City staff collaborated closely with the Clearwater Beach Civic Association and residents to develop a comprehensive plan for the park’s renovation. The project is estimated to be completed January 2025. Residents are encouraged to stay informed about the project’s progress by visiting MyClearwater.com/McKayPark. Today, the Clearwater Parks & Recreation team planted 25 new trees at Crest Lake Park, continuing our efforts to strengthen Clearwater’s tree canopy. Planting a variety of tree species makes our tree canopy stronger and healthier! By avoiding planting just one type of tree, we protect our green spaces from pests and diseases that could harm all of the trees.
