Tomorrow is Climate Action Day, and our Green Flags committee has put forth an inspiring challenge to all CIS Abroad staff. We’re committed to taking action for our planet, and we want you to join us! Here are the ways we're making a difference: 🚴♂️ Bike or Walk to Work: If you commute to a workspace, opt for a bike ride or a walk. 🚗 Car-Free Day: Avoid using a car for the entire day. 🗑️ Litter Cleanup: Grab a bag and head to your favorite local park to pick up litter. 🛒 Plastic-Free Shopping: Go grocery shopping and challenge yourself to buy NO plastic! 🥗 Meatless Thursday: Make it a meatless day and enjoy plant-based meals. 📅 September Wrap-Up: What a Month for CIS Abroad! As the month wraps up, we’re reflecting on some amazing moments with our partners and communities around the world. Here are a few highlights: 🌍 #PIEoneer Awards: Congrats to all the winners and nominees at The PIEoneer Awards in London! We're proud to be a Highly Commended finalist for the Sustainability International Impact Award. Huge shoutout to CANIE: Climate Action Network for International Educators for their wins in Sustainability and Membership Organization of the Year—your efforts are paving the way for a more sustainable future for international education! 🏠 Our fall semester students are settling into their new homes abroad, exploring new cultures, and adjusting to their host universities. We love seeing their journeys unfold! 🎓 Study Abroad Fairs: We’ve been busy at campuses across the U.S., from Maine to Florida to California, meeting excited students and fantastic partners. We learned, laughed (a lot!), and re-ignited our passion last week at our annual Spark Camp. We gathered at our Easthampton office for team building and prepping for the new academic year. Some fan-favorite sessions and events: ⭐ Partnerships team Remix - learning how we can work together to best support our university partners. ⭐ Giving Feedback Workshop. So helpful. ⭐ Alumni Ambassador program updates - coming to a campus near you! ⭐ Planning how we will celebrate our 25th anniversary in 2025 ⭐ Productivity Tips - with a focus on using google tasks, good stuff! ⭐ Melissa Torres visited us and shared ways we can use our The Forum on Education Abroad membership to move our mission forward! ⭐ We wrapped up the week with a visit to 50 Arrow Gallery, run by CIS Abroader Alexandra Woolner, where we participated in live performance art by artist Oscar Gavilán Ortiz. We then capped off the week with our first annual Spark Awards ceremony recognizing employees for great work this year that aligns with our mission and values. It was a busy and delightful week and we are so looking forward to seeing many of you on campus and at conferences this fall.
