To support our child care educators in our programs, we provide regular onsite coaching and individualized assistance. • Amid staggering child-care costs in San Francisco and across the country, viewers of the first 2024 presidential debate late last month looking for answers from the two candidates competing for the nation’s highest office said they were left feeling empty-handed. Children’s Council San Francisco estimates that parents here pay $29,000 annually for infant care on average, making it the second-biggest expense for families after housing. • Our Health and Nutrition Team is launching their Farm to ECE Program! Throughout the summer, they’ll deliver organic produce boxes to 20 Family Child Care Homes participating in the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) through four food hubs. These fresh, nutritious ingredients will be incorporated into their meals, snacks, and nutrition education, supporting healthy eating habits for our little ones. #SFSodaTax #SodaTaxGrantee This project was made possible with funding by www.sodatax-sf.org.

  • As we approach Juneteenth, a day commemorating the emancipation of enslaved African Americans, it is fitting to reflect on the resilience and achievements of the Black community. The commitment of our child care providers embodies the spirit of Juneteenth, as they work tirelessly to uplift and empower the next generation. We recently gathered to honor 21 incredible Black and African American child care educators, our Legacy Providers who have dedicated their lives to nurturing and educating the children of San Francisco. These remarkable individuals have been in business for anywhere from 15 to an astonishing 47 years, making a lasting mark on our community. ➡️ Read more of Margarita’s blog post and see the list of Legacy Providers: https://lnkd.in/gxStMSH7

  • This year, as Children’s Council marks our 50th anniversary, we're inspired by the legacy we've built together – half a century of nurturing children and supporting families. Now, more than ever, we recognize the significance of cultivating these roots and fostering an environment where every child can thrive. This season, we're reaching out to our community to help grow our future in the most meaningful way. Using FreeWill's intuitive online tools, you can secure your legacy and ensure that future generations of parents and children have access to quality child care and education. It takes just minutes to plan a legacy gift to Children’s Council and plant seeds of hope for a brighter future. Best of all, it costs nothing today and will help us thrive for the next 50 years and beyond. "I chose to make a planned gift to Children’s Council because I’ve seen the direct impact of the help that Children’s Council provides to the families that I work with. Paying for childcare is very stressful for many families. Children’s Council does a fantastic job in alleviating that burden so caregivers can be productive members of the workforce, and focus on the wellbeing of their families.” - Masako, Children's Council Legacy Donor Thank you for your unwavering support! Here’s to honoring our past, celebrating the present, and growing our future. https://lnkd.in/guEWx7AZ

  • Children’s Council of San Francisco and the SF ECE Advocacy Coalition rallied over 100 parents, providers and children to speak up at City Hall against up to $65 million in reductions to early care and education baseline funding. We were successful in getting the Board of Supervisors to table the budget proposal until the City of San Francisco negotiates with the ECE community. Thank you to Supervisor Myrna Melgar for strongly advocating on our behalf.

  • Children’s Council of San Francisco and the SF ECE Advocacy Coalition provided Supervisor Ahsha Safai a tour of Our Special Place and Billygoats, two childcare sites in District 11, through administrators Mary Evelyn Thomas and Angelica Guerrero, respectively. We were also joined by Esperanza Estrada, parents, and Children’s Council staff Alan Wong and Sierra Fischer. We are so thankful to Supervisor Safai for cosponsoring a resolution at the Board of Supervisors to get “Baby” Prop C implemented!
