Today is an exciting and historic day for Chicago, the state of Illinois, and the entire #MidwestQuantum ecosystem as the Illinois Quantum and Microelectronics Park launches. PsiQuantum will anchor the massive quantum campus at the former US Steel South Works plant on Chicago’s South Side, where it aims to build the first US-based, utility-scale, fault-tolerant #quantum computer. “The quantum campus is an example of what an ecosystem can achieve with solid government support and a culture of collaboration and partnership," said David Awschalom, the Liew Family Professor of Molecular Engineering and Physics at the University of Chicago and the director of the Chicago Quantum Exchange. "The CQE has played a leading role in launching and developing this rich cross-sector community over the last decade, and it will continue to partner with industry leaders to integrate quantum technology into different sectors as technology advances.”

Chicago Quantum Exchange's Director of Industry Partnerships and Duality Accelerator's Deputy Director, Preeti Chalsani, is joining Intersect Illinois as their inaugural Chief Quantum Officer beginning August 14, 2024! This new position was created to reflect the state’s commitment to cementing Illinois as the capital for #quantum technologies. Chalsani, who brings over 20 years of experience in industry-academic relations, technology commercialization, intellectual property, and research/education in academic, government and corporate environments, will work with leaders in the region's ecosystem to lead all quantum business development efforts. Quantum and manufacturing go hand-in-hand. ⚛️ Physics professor and IQUIST Director Brian DeMarco spoke at the MxD Quantum Technology in Manufacturing summit today, explaining how the Illinois DARPA Quantum Proving Ground can advance quantum computing to utility scale and have an economic impact.

We're excited that Purdue University Northwest (PNW) will join the Chicago region’s Bloch Tech Hub, a coalition of industry, academic, government and nonprofit stakeholders led by the Chicago Quantum Exchange. The university is working with the Bloch on a #quantum commercialization center as part of the Roberts Impact Lab, a regional technology transfer and commercialization hub that is the centerpiece of a new $40 million-plus downtown innovation district in Hammond, Indiana. #TheBlochQuantum #EDATechHubs #TechHubs #QuantumPrairie #MidwestQuantum 

The CQE's #TheBlochQuantum and MxD hosted a groundbreaking event yesterday with local and national government officials, including Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker and Senator Dick Durbin, as well as policymakers, researchers, and manufacturing industry professionals to explore the integration of #quantum technology into manufacturing. The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) and the State of Illinois are partnering to develop the Quantum Proving Ground, where #quantum technology prototypes will be tested and evaluated as part of DARPA’s new Quantum Benchmarking Initiative. The Department of Defense is investing up to $140 million in the program, which will be based at Illinois' soon-to-be-built quantum campus and leverages Illinois’ recent $500 million quantum budget outlay as well as the region’s deep bench of world-leading scientists. “The future of quantum is here, and it’s in Illinois,” Governor JB Pritzker said.
