In light of the mass resignations on the CPS Board, we strongly urge the Board to keep CEO Pedro Martinez in place, reject the misguided proposal to borrow more money, and work with all parties to bring transparency and long-term fiscal stability and quality education to the school system. We have issued a statement with the Civic Committee of the Commercial Club of Chicago elaborating on our position. https://lnkd.in/gV3UVQrH

Chicago’s small businesses are feeling pretty optimistic about their future — it’s the city’s economy they’re less confident about. That’s just one of the notable takeaways of the 2024 Chicagoland Small Business Outlook, a survey put together by the Chicagoland Chamber of Commerce in partnership with the University of Illinois Chicago-College of Business Administration. Leaders from the Chamber and UIC, as well as executives from TikTok, Wintrust Financial Corporation, and other entities, discussed the study at a release event at mHUB innovation center in the West Loop on Thursday, Sept. 26. ▶️ Check out the recap including a full report of the data and photos from the event: https://bit.ly/3N8Czm1

Illinois and the Chicagoland region are at a critical inflection point for energy policy. Here’s why: At the same time that we are making a societal push to combat climate change and decarbonize our economy, which has meant the planned closures of fossil fuel plants, our energy needs are soaring. This need could very well lead to a rise, or resurgence, in the usage of nuclear power, which has provided Illinois significant loads of carbon-free, reliable power for decades. As expert panelists discussed during last week's Chicago at a Crossroads event, the developments around nuclear power have been spurred by our rapidly growing energy needs driven, in large part, by society’s increasing reliance on data and new technologies. ▶️Read the full story: https://bit.ly/4eHgPcQ Thank you to our speakers: Kathleen Barrón, Executive Vice President and Chief Strategy Officer, Constellation Jonathan Feipel, Executive Director, Illinois Commerce Commission Greg Metcalf, Director of Global Design, Equinix Presented by Old National Bank, Chicago at a Crossroads is a dynamic executive forum that features insights about major policy decisions and topics that are of the utmost importance for a strong and equitable Chicago economy.
