Battling Abuse. Restoring Lives.
About us
Chicago Children’s Advocacy Center (ChicagoCAC) and our public partners are the front-line responders in Chicago to reports of child sexual abuse, as well as reports of child physical abuse, witness to violence, risk of harm, and sex trafficking. Our mission is uniting public, private and community partners to ensure the safety, health and well-being of abused children and survivors of domestic and sexual violence. ChicagoCAC is the city’s only not-for-profit organization that coordinates the efforts of child protection staff, law enforcement professionals, family advocates, medical experts and mental health clinicians under one roof. Our staff arranges a family’s visit to the center, conducts forensic interviews, and provides family advocacy and mental health services aimed at reducing trauma so that children and families may begin the healing process. All of our services are free of charge to every client. Since opening in 2001, we have served more than 50,000 children and their families. ChicagoCAC is among the largest of more than 900 CACs nationwide and is one of only a few at which all partner agencies are co-located. For open positions, check https://bit.ly/chicacwork.

October is National Domestic Violence Awareness Month! Join us in supporting survivors of domestic violence by providing a safe space to share their story and heal from trauma. Millions of individuals experience domestic violence each year, regardless of their age, race, or gender. Through advocacy and prevention, we can bring awareness to those affected and help them along their healing journey. Why is National Domestic Violence Month important to ChicagoCAC? 3 in 5 children who experience domestic violence in their homes also experience some form of child abuse. Those who experience it are also at a greater risk for adult health problems including mental health conditions and physical issues. Having served over 50,000 children and their families, ChicagoCAC is uniquely positioned to lead the creation of Chicago Advocacy Network for Hope (CAN Hope), which is a state-of-the-art response system for adult survivors of domestic and sexual violence in our city. This multi-agency, multi-disciplinary, co-located center will provide services to adult survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking.
