We invited employees to bless the addition of our second mobile lung screening coach, bringing vital lung cancer screening directly to our community! This incredible initiative is made possible by the generous donors to the CHI Memorial Foundation. What is lung cancer screening? Lung cancer screening uses a low-dose CT scan to create a 3-D image of your lungs, providing a clearer and more detailed picture than regular x-rays. This allows doctors to diagnose lung cancer at its earliest, most treatable stage – before any symptoms appear. The entire process takes less than ten minutes, with no special preparation needed. Why is it important? The National Lung Screening Trial (NLST) by the National Cancer Institute (NCI) has shown that low-dose CT lung cancer screening can improve survival rates by 20%. Are you at risk? High-risk factors include: Age 50 or greater Smoking history Family history of cancer Exposure to cancer-causing agents (asbestos, diesel fumes, Radon, coal smoke, soot, etc.) Insurance and financial support: Private insurance, Medicare, and Medicaid cover lung cancer screening for high-risk individuals. We also offer grant funds for eligible uninsured and under-insured people, as well as a cash-pay option for those who do not meet insurance criteria but want to be screened. If you feel you are at risk, call us at (423) 495-LUNG (5864) to discuss if a lung screening is right for you or to schedule an appointment. Together, let's take proactive steps towards early detection and better lung health! @go2forlungcancer
