How can I take care of myself if I suffer from depression? Once you begin treatment, you should gradually start to feel better. Go easy on yourself during this time. Try to do things you used to enjoy. Even if you do not feel like doing them, they can improve your mood. Other things that may help: • Physical activity • A regular bedtime and wake-up time • Eating regular, healthy meals • Do what you can as you can. Decide what must get done and what can wait. • Connecting with other people and talking with people you trust about how you are feeling. • Postponing important life decisions until you feel better. • Avoiding alcohol, nicotine, or drugs, including medications not prescribed for you. If you or someone you know is in immediate distress or is thinking about hurting themselves, contact the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline at 988, chat at 988lifeline.org or text HELLO to 741741. Silence fuels stigma. 🗣️ During Bebe Moore Campbell National Minority Mental Health Awareness Month, let's break the silence surrounding mental health in BIPOC communities. Stigma thrives when we don’t talk about mental health, making it harder for those who need help to seek it. By speaking up and sharing our experiences, we can dismantle the barriers that prevent access to care and support. Join the conversation and help normalize mental health discussions. If you or someone you know is struggling with mental health? Call us: Central Illinois: 888.924.3786. Madison and St. Clair Counties, St. Louis Metro East: 618.877.4420. The City of Bloomington and The Town of Normal are seeking input from community members on how to spend their Community Development Block Grant funds. Annually, the City and Town receive about $1 million in federal Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funding. Chestnut Health Systems is happy to announce our participation in this initiative. At all of our central region locations, you can find a box to place your survey in. The Consolidated Plan Resident survey is available in English, French, or Spanish. There are two ways you can take the survey, online by going to the link below or the paper survey. Once you fill out the paper survey, you can put it in the box. https://lnkd.in/g9QT6Tm3 *This survey is ONLY for Bloomington and Normal residents.

Normalize talking about mental health in BIPOC communities. 💬 It's a common myth to think, "My ancestors and family had it worse, so I shouldn't feel like this." The reality is, when you care for yourself, you honor and care for your ancestors and family. Each generation faces unique challenges, and your mental health is just as important. This July, during Bebe Moore Campbell National Minority Mental Health Awareness Month, let's break the cycle of silence and stigma.  If you or someone you know is struggling with mental health? Call us. Central Illinois: 888.924.3786. Madison and St. Clair Counties, St. Louis Metro East: 618.877.4420. Jefferson County, MO: 800.446-0972.

By raising awareness and encouraging open dialogue, we can create a more inclusive and supportive environment for those facing mental health challenges.
