  • This week we continue to celebrate National Red Ribbon Week. Red Ribbon Week is the nation’s oldest and largest drug prevention awareness program. The National Family Partnership started Red Ribbon week in 1985 as a tribute to DEA Agent Enrique “Kiki” Camarena who was murdered by drug traffickers he was investigating in Mexico. Following his death, individuals began wearing red ribbons to honor Kiki’s sacrifice and to advocate for strong prevention efforts. Let this week serve as a powerful reminder of the importance of drug prevention and the impact it has on our youth. All it takes is one time to alter your life forever. The men and women of our Office encourages healthy and safe living, and that can only be done without the use of illegal drugs. #RedRibbonWeek #LivingDrugFree #ChesterSCSheriff

  • The Chester County Sheriff’s Office is thrilled to announce that Brady's K9 Fund has generously donated a ballistic vest for our department's four legged officers, K9 Loretta and K9 Sammie. Brady's K9 is passionate about supporting our four-legged officers who work tirelessly to keep our community safe. Their organization is dedicated to providing essential equipment and resources to these brave K9s, ensuring they are well-equipped and protected for their entire shift. Brady’s K9 Fund was founded by an 8-year-old boy who felt K9 officers deserve body armor, just like their human partners. Since 2018 Brady’s Fund has raised over $1.25M and vested 950 K9s across all 50 states. Their mission is ongoing! You can make a difference too! Join Brady’s mission by visiting his website and learning more about his cause. Your support and donations go directly to providing essential life saving equipment for these incredible K9 officers. Together, we can ensure our K9 officer and their partner come home safe together. Visit www.Bradysk9fund.com to learn more and contribute to the cause. Every little bit counts! • Today is National Day of Concern for Young People and Gun Violence. To highlight the significance of this day, our Office collaborated with the Chester County School District to join the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of South Carolina, and many other schools across South Carolina, in participating in South Carolina’s 23rd Annual Student Pledge Against Gun Violence.   This morning, Sheriff Max Dorsey spoke to students at Chester Middle School during their 2024 Unity Day Program alongside Superintendent Dr. Antwon Sutton and First Assistant U.S. Attorney, Brook Andrews.  Sheriff Dorsey focused his discussion with students on the importance of how actions related to gun violence can cause a direct reaction to their lives and the lives of those around them.    Every school across Chester County participated in this Student Pledge to never carry a gun to school, never resolve a dispute with a gun, and use their influence with their friends to keep them from resolving disputes with guns. This campaign provides a means for starting conversations with young people about gun violence, and directly engages students as active participants in promoting safety within their schools. #NationalDayOfConcernForYoungPeopleAndGunViolence #GunViolence #ChesterSCSheriff

  • We are proud to announce the graduation of Detention Officer Bullin, from the South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy, where he earned his Class II Certification. A Chester County native, Bullin is the first graduate of our Detention Apprenticeship Program. This unique initiative allowed him to continue his education at York Technical College within their Criminal Justice Program, while receiving PAID training and valuable experience working as a Part-time Detention Officer. Following his recent gradation from York Technical College in May of 2024, Bullin transitioned to a Full-Time Detention Officer within the Chester County Detention Center. We are incredibly proud of Bullin’s accomplishments and we are excited to see his continued success. Thank you, Detention Officer Bullin for choosing to serve right here in the community you grew up in. #YorkTech #DetentionApprenticeshipProgram #ChesterSCSheriff
